2019 FIRST EVER TOYOTA TRUCK after numerous FORDS
I have owned more than 20 FORD F150/ 350's many years and decided to try a TOYOTA TACOMA. Always have been a strong supporter of buy American but FORD has screwed it's workers just like GM. The quality of this vehicle is awesome.

Very 1st Toyota, got a 🌮
Been driving F250s for the last 25 years, time for a change! Ford was soooo heavy, very strong but heavy! I traded in the Ford, love my new taco, sooooo easy to park and get around in traffic, airport, cities! When I 1st got it I was treating it like the F250, always putting in 4x4 , not hardly needed now truck so lite! Not happy with noise 45-60 mph, and tranny shifting, too much, butt oh well it’s a Toyota, I love my lil truck 2019 🌮 5.5 k miles!

get with the program
I leased a 2017 Tacoma Limited, despite my better judgment, thinking "surely in 3 years they will have Apple CarPlay" and thought I might warm up to Toyota's stupid Entune system. NOPE. Quite the opposite. I like my Taco, but I'm turning this one in when the lease is up, and I won't buy or lease another Taco without a real head unit. The Apple and Android systems are too elegant, and that com center is too important to me. I"ll find something that doesn't require so much work to use. Hard pass.
First and last Taco
Don’t buy. The transmission doesn’t know what it wants at any speed. Floorboard vibrations up to 60 mph. The film in the front widows almost makes you sick. Gonna trade in for and older truck.

Not what it used to be
I bought my TRD-Off Road new from the dealer and was very excited as I was able to get one with a manual transmission. In the last 14 months I put about 5800 miles on it, including a lot of Minnesota winter driving. Overall, it's an ok truck, but IMHO, way too expensive. The competition offers more for less money. My wife bought a new Tacoma back in 2007 in we both loved it. 12 years later, you can't compare the 2. When we sold my wife's truck, it had about 80000 miles on it and has been overseas and in about 14 different states. It was a great truck with no issues whatsoever. Fast forward to the disappointment in 2019. As mentioned before, truck has not even 6000 miles on it and rattles all over the cab. I am not sure why Toyota chose to put an atkins-cycle engine in a truck, but it was a bad idea. They should've put the 4Runner's 4.0 in it. Anyways, If you've ever driven a Honda V-Tech before, that's how this truck's engine feels like, nothing between 0-3000rpm, after that v-tech kicks in and it gets moving, not fast, but steady (mind you can watch the gas gauge dive while you do that). I average about 14-16mpg around town and maybe 20mpg on a good day, downhill. I don't race my truck and I hardly ever go more than 10mph over the speed limit. Gas mileage on this thing s***s. As a lot of people before me mentioned, 2019 was the year that didn't get the height adjustable driver seat. Also a design flaw, I am about 6', and it feels cramped, head to toe and side to side. Small cabin, not much head or leg room and uncomfortable seats. I know, you may ask why did you buy it? Because I loved my wife's Tacoma and I thought Toyota wouldn't be that stupid and change a best seller like that, but they were. There is also the thing about the bed covers, unless you buy it in a package, you can't get an OEM Toyota tonneau-cover for it. You need to buy one somewhere else, not a big deal, but for me, I like to keep new cars as close to original as possible. My truck has the OEM chrome tube-steps which are nice, but installed way too close to the cabin, you can hardly fit a boot on it as you will hit the bottom of the cabin when you step on it. Also not that big of a deal, but worth mentioning. Good things about the truck: Not that many, navigation and infotainment system are easy to use, the wireless charger in the middle console works pretty well and it's really easy to get used to the size of the truck. It drives well for a truck and is surprisingly quiet, even with the off road tires. In the end, I think the Tacoma is not what it used to be anymore and even with some of the options the 2020 got (LED headlights, height adjustable seats) I won't be getting another one. It may be different when you put some nice options on it, but the engine and transmission alone is enough reason for me to stay away from it.
