Used 2018 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Consumer Reviews
Love the Truck but needs a 2 improvements.
I love this truck so it is hard to write a bad thing about. 2 thing I hate about this truck. It shifts like a donkey in heat and the seat are as comfortable as a wooden church pew. Blower motor went out at 35k. Took me 10 minutes to replace and Toyota reimbursed me.

Don't buy a Tacoma
I had this truck as a rental for a couple of days and took it through the ringer. I used it on steep grades, high speed highway (80-90 mph), off road and for hauling a couple of hundred pounds of camping gear. The truck has problems with power, ability to maintain speed and shifting to the point of driving you crazy. The transmission will downshift and rev to nearly redline to maintain speed on grades that aren't excessive, other small cars will be passing you like it's no big thing and the Tacoma will be at nearly redline engine speeds to keep up with traffic. Off road the thing is great and everything you could imagine it to be, as long as you don't need big engine power that is. Seems well put together, front seats are not all that comfortable nor is the seating position. In a nut shell, not a proper truck for any type of cargo, towing or hauling despite inflated claims by Toyota about payload, towing, etc., terrible power. Great off roader with no load in it and low power requirements. Will be buying Nissan Frontier later in 2019, torque with 5 speed. It gets bashed online but 5 speed with the 4 liter is a good mix. 6 speed transmissions work great if the engine, vehicle weight, etc. are balanced out. In the case of the Tacoma it is not. Spend some time w/the Tacoma before you buy it.

Excellent truck. 5th Tacoma I’ve owned
I don’t understand why people give poor ratings on this truck. It’s a truck, not a sedan. It’s not built for speed it’s built to get you from A to B and extra for off-roading if that’s your thing. I’ve had several Tacoma’s since 1995. I’ve loved every single one of them. Great ride, comfortable. Tall enough to see over most cars. Rugged enough to get through Michigan and Now East Coast winters (back when we had real winters...). I drive for Lyft on occasion and not once has anyone complained about the ride or the room in the rear of my double cab. And these people are complete strangers and have every right to complain if they wanted to. Nothing. 5 stars every ride. I love this truck. And I know Toyota has my back if I ever needed them for anything. For the record, I’ve never had extra work done on any of my Tacoma’s other than oil changes, tire rotations, and new tires every year. This truck is HIGHLY reliable. Holds its value VERY well. Surprisingly great on gas. Not so much the early models but my last two (2006 & 2018) are getting 26mpg+ (V6, 4x4). I’ve enjoyed them in the past and I certainly plan on purchasing them again in the future. But first I need to tack on 350,000+ amazing miles.

midnight black rides again
when at dealership before talking finance and deal be sure to get your trade keys back.the dealership would not give them back to me after asking several times,at first they did not have a truck that i was looking for, after 5 hours they produced a truck that I liked and sold to me.i have 3666 miles on my Toyota Tacoma and have been pleased with product.for the money great pick up.fuel mileage I have been averaging 28.6 mpg.i believe that the way I take care of cars this truck will last me a good 20 years. I do recommend this truck for a person wanting a truck will all the features you want for a great price.

The TRD-OFF Road with Long Bed is a game changer
Coming from owning a full size RAM 1500, I knew there were sacrifices I would have to make in exchange for better mobility and gas mileage. The biggest sacrifice was rear passenger room, however with a family of four this hasn't been an issue. On one rare occasion I drove four adults to/from work (about an hour long commute each way). All passengers were comfortable and the space was adequate. The reality is I'm usually the only one in the truck 90% of the time with the other 10% having one/two kids in the back. It didn't make sense to keep a larger truck for the <1% situations. The truck bed on the LB however is more accommodating than my full size. It does make the truck longer, however, the only sacrifice to mobility is departure angle (which is reduced from 23.5° to 23.1°)...a small sacrifice to make for over an additional foot of bed). The other sacrifice was in towing capacity. I tow a 4500 lb travel trailer and although I'm higher in RPM while towing, my overall gas mileage is much better than in the RAM (8-9 mpg vs 5-6 mpg). When downsizing, I was deciding between this truck and the the Colorado Z71 (Gas/Diesel). In the end it came down to the proven long term reliability of the Tacoma name. Yes the Tacoma had rusty frame issues on previous generations, but Toyota replaced every single vehicle affected....which for me speaks volumes. The interior is solid. The cabin is very quiet. The transmission does shift a little differently from expected at first, but after break in period, seems to have learned how I drive and become more responsive. (The issues brought up on the transmission are purely programming and there is a TSB out there that addresses it). I do not have the JBL sound system, but feel that the ETUNE 6-speaker system included sounds fantastic. Although I miss Apple Car Play, I do not miss having to connect the lightning cable to my phone every time I get in the truck. The QI charging works great. For 2018 there are many safety features that come standard; early collision detection/warning/breaking, adaptive cruise, auto high beams, lane departure warning. Overall I'm happy with this truck.
