Used 2016 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab Consumer Reviews
Bent tow hitch chain loop hole easily
My safety chain loop hole on the receiver hitch got bent pretty easy. Dealer Karl Malone Toyota, said warranty is not included. So do not trust Toyota's tow package the safety loop is a flimsy design. My seat belt light comes up and beeps heavily, even if I have my seat belt on two times already. I need to go back and have this fixed. Have a hard time keeping up with 80mph Utah freeway speeds... it is comfortable at 65mph though.

My third Tacoma.
This is my third Tacoma and is by far the best. I indulged in the Limited. I traded in a full size truck for a smaller truck so it would fit in the garage of my new house. This truck is comfortable, I have leather and heated seats, and the road noise is greatly reduce. I have a Prius C also, so I am used to driving for optimal gas mileage. I get 21-28 mpgs. in the Tacoma and have reached 90.5 in the Prius C. The controls are easy to see and use and the sound system is great. I get a lot of compliments on the truck. It would be nice if the tailgate locked electronically when the truck is locked. The Blind Spot Warning system and Backup Camera come in handy. Some complain about the transmission shifting. I found if you need to accelerate and use the peddle it doesn't seem to have a problem finding the gear. I am not sure why the Prius has a locking gas cap cover and the Tacoma doesn't. The fit and quality is great. Look at other trucks to appreciate the quality. It is large enough to fit some big cargo and the rails and sliding loops are handy.

Looked GREAT is reliable but was a DUD
I bought my new 2016 Sport V6 A/T Access Cab rear wheel drive on 01/04/2016. After 30 days I sold my 2008 V6 A/T Prerunner with 59k miles. Before reading more trust me when I say "I sold the wrong truck". In the 1st 6 months I had multiple issues, squeaky radiator support bushings, broken TPMS sensors in 3 wheels, repeated grease smear inside driver window, entune radio problems, failed speedo cluster as well as the unpopular transmission shift issues, that nearly made me sell it. After those issues were resolved, ONLY BY SENDING VIDEO PROOF TO CORPORATE, the truck became much better. That is everything except for the poorly designed transmission and the sluggish Atkinson cycle engine. I added a cold air intake and a better Gibson exhaust which did improve throttle response. Did not provide more power. The truck never stranded me. It got 17-18 mpg city and as much as 25.5 mpg highway. The only good benefit of the sluggish and quirky powertrain. I have owned 6 Tacoma trucks. I sold the 2016 after 5.5 years with only 25k miles. I just got tired of having no low end torque as well as the continuous recall notices and never ending transmission flashes that temporarily fix the poor shifting. I then bought a 2008 Off Road and a 2012 SR5 Tacoma. I am a happy camper again. Stay away from the early 2016-2017 3rd gen. Pray that the 4th gen has a better powertrain. The 2016, which I modded for appearance, was paid off in 2 years. Prettiest truck I ever had. Should have traded up for a newer 4runner with the 4.0. Glad it is gone. Love my 2nd gen Tacoma trucks. Buy a 2nd gen and forget the 3rd gen. Take smiles per gallon and forget miles per gallon. In the last 3 years I have added a touch screen android stereo, leather seat covers, color matched grille, 4runner trail wheels, heavier coils and struts, and a backup camera to my 2008. I now have the tech that I missed from the 2016. At 88k miles my 2008 runs better than my 2016 ran from day 1.

Lexus of Lighter Duty Trucks
First I would like to start out by saying thank you to Steve Gomez and the staff at Gulf Coast Toyota in Angleton, TX. I traveled almost 200 miles to purchase My 2016 TRD Sport from them because they are strait up and didn't make me pay MSRP. I visited at least 5 dealerships and test drove both access and double cab models with four cylinder and six cylinder combinations (only 4x2 models). For me, the white V6 automatic TRD Sport 4x2 with a regular bed was the winner. This made the most sense in terms of my needs and value. This truck came with the V6 engine, upgraded stereo receiver (bigger screen), traction control, tow package, alloy rims, bed liner, nitrogen in the tires, day time running LEDs, push-to-start, and tint. It did not come with blindspot indicators or the side steps, but my foot is too large for the "cute" sidesteps Toyota likes to install. I put 700 miles, highway and city, on the truck in the first week and I am very pleased. I almost didn't purchase the truck after reading reviews on some industry respected sites. Particularly, the reviews regarding the transmission "having a difficult time finding a gear at higher speeds" was a major concern for me. I have not found this to be an issue. Currently, the only time I can remotely reproduce the issue is when I am purposefully erratic with the gas pedal at high speeds. Having owned 30+ cars, including a GS Lexus, I believe a slight delay in RPM re-stabilization is normal for most cars that have more than 6 automatic transmission gears. Enjoying/maintaining excellent ride and comfort requires a responsible driver and wisdom, but I digress. I will note that the aforementioned "questionable transmission" reviews were in almost all cases regarding the 4x4 models. Also, keep in mind that the RX 350 and GS350 now come with a variation of this same exact engine. I have noticed one thing. If I park the truck, open driver door, and then turn off the engine, the truck likes to make an annoying beeping sound until I close the driver door. However, if I park the truck, turn off the engine, and then open the door there isn't an annoying beeping sound. One would hope that the a 2016 truck would be equipped with the processing power to understand "yes, the door was opened prior to engine shut off, but the engine has subsequently been shut down so stop the freaking beeping". It may have been intentionally designed this way, but I am more than willing pull out the old C++ compiler if that is acceptable :-). Overall, Toyota nailed it in 2016 with the 4x2 TRD Sport. Can it get better? Yes. Will it get better? Yes. -White Chocolate Tacoma

Quality, Looks and Performance are the reasons
I love this truck. So much that I drove 225 miles to buy it for $1,800 less than any deal I could find locally. And the dealer was willing to go out of his way to trade for the exact truck available in the color combination and options that I wanted. This truck drives and performs even better than I expected. The aggressive styling of Tacoma's 4 door Access Cab are absolutely the top of the class
