Used 2000 Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab Consumer Reviews
the ultimate shuttle vehicle
My first Toyota & certainly not the last. This truck is great, I've pulled some fancy looking 4x4's out of some rough spots w/ no problem. Highly recommend the TRD package. Added a shell to the back for traveling.
Not One Complaint!
Bought used in 2005 w/72000 miles, now has 141000, i had both a Chevy and gmc light truck, both were junk compared to my Toyota. Waterpump only thing I've had to replace, did myself saved $600, Extremely reliable, love the ride, cause it rides like a truck. Regular maintenance done and it still runs like the day i bought it. Only problem i wish it had 4wd, other than that i will keep this truck until they tell me that there is literally nothing you can do to fix it. there is nothing i haven't been able to do with this truck.

Great truck, but obviously a truck
Had the truck for a year, and no major problems to report. Drives through 2ft of snow like it's nothing, tows like there's nothing there. I was disappointed by the gas mileage - around 15 MPG around town, without a load. Ride is terrible with the TRD package, but it's in line with my expectations for a truck. It also has a very clunky manual transmission. Has had numerous annoying interior rattles, which I did not expect on a Toyota. It also feels quite tippy and has a lot of "bump steer" even on slow corners. All annoyances aside, it's a great truck. I like the simple, uncluttered styling, inside and out. It is very "trucky," but it feels solid and should last forever.
Love my truck but...
I have had my Tacoma for almost 2 yrs. now and after 42,000 miles and a few anoyances I still love my truck. On occasion the driver side door pannel vrates at highway speeds. The worst problem I have is the engine knocks when accelerating or climbing a hill at high speeds. The dealerships only recomendation was to run higher octane fuel, so my Tacoma now requires mid- grade gas & still knocks on a rare occasion.
Would recommend...
...this truck to anyone. Bought mine in Oct 2000 and have 75k miles. Overall dependability is beyond reproach. Been tremendous fun and plan to keep it for some time ( don't care for the exterior changes on the 2001+ models).
