Our first minivan 2012 Sienna Base Model 7 Seater
I've always been a car guy, then SUV, all german. Now that we have a newborn and our family is growing, we had to opt out to having a larger capacity vehicle. Hence, the 7 seater or even more in the future if need be. My first thought was, man no one really respects van drivers and I experienced this first hand right away. This is when other vehicles always cuts you off on the freeway and disregards that "Hey we are driving here! Don't you see me!" LOL. We'll at least the drivability and the comfort with this van counters that. The ride is pretty smooth. We bought it used, and we are the 3rd owner at 88K miles, in clean pristine condition. We are running it with Goodyear tires. Even though we have the base model this is actually pretty good. I did not want the factory navi since I use Waze anyway and my kid uses his ipad mounted on the headrest. It's a win win for us.
Why I bought a 2012 Toyota Sienna
I have driven vans since 1976, starting with a Ford Econoline 150 followed by a string of 5 Chrysler minivans. In 2006, I purchased an new Oddesey EX-L . It was by far the best minivan I had ever owned. After posting nearly 90,000 mi of mostly trouble-free driving, some periodic transmission slippage prompted me to go shopping. I loved the Oddesey styling except its face that resembled a 2001 Oddesey. I also liked the style of Siennas. In short, Honda wouldn't deal and Toyota was eager. Still leary of the Sienna, I took a long test drive in both an XLE and a SE. The SE drove much like the Honda. The dealer added a light grey leather interior, awesome! Happy at 20K miles and 0% financing.

Great vehicle until major engine issues
This has been a great vehicle for us, until the dealership pointed out a major design flaw - a poorly made head gasket that is leaking at less than 70,000 miles. Dealer admitted that this is a common flaw in this V6 engine, and they continue manufacturing them with the same parts to this day. However, Toyota Corporate will not recognize the issue or help in any way, and did nothing beyond documenting my complaint. The repair will cost upwards of $4500, and Toyota is unwilling to recognize or help resolve the issue. Although the vehicle overall has been good, I'm very unimpressed with Toyota's corporate stance and unwillingness to realize a major flaw in their engine, or to provide any type of assistance due to this poor quality.

no longer own this vehicle!
Toyota has good reputation for long lasting vehicles. but this one had too many mechanical issues with few miles. It is not engineered well enough to hold up without major repairs needed to front end, steering, struts, etc. at low mileage. I have sold this vehicle now, so no additional reviews will be issued form me. Overall, this Toyota did not live up to my expectations and when compared to my Ford built vehicles, it was sub-par.

2012 Toyota Sienna XLE
Had unresolved airbag recall, motor was making "ticking" sound, battery connections had corrosion and cable frayed. Steering wheel made squeaking/rubbing sound.
