Used 2005 Toyota Sienna Consumer Reviews
250,000 miles and still runs GREAT!
I purchased the CE (cheapo edition) model new in 2005. I have had only three unexpected maintenance issues. The back door lifters broke at about 150,000 miles which the dealer of course wanted a rip off price to fix but I just purchased on the big A and installed quickly myself. I had a failure in link cable in the shifter that was cheap to fix and a sensor likewise inexpensive to fix. These last two things were at over 200,000 miles so I have no complaints. Think of it, I have not had to replace the generator, the alternator, the starter, the radiator, the transmission, or the master cylinder at 250,000 miles. I do recharge the AC every season now but given the mileage that is expected. This car has been completely 100% reliable and is more comfortable than the new 2019 Sienna or the Honda minivan. I was going to buy a new Toyota or Honda minivan but decided why spend the all that money while this runs so great and I could afford to buy a new one with cash. I spent I believe $22,000 new and have had low maintenance bills (use independent repair shops) so looking at the new cost averaged over years of ownership it has cost me very little per year and still runs great. I bought a new 2013 Honda insight for my other car and that needed an engine rebuild at 36,000 miles due to a design flaw.

We have owned this van 4 years now.....
Not a bad van by any means. We have grown very comfortable with it and can rely on it to get us were we need to be every time. When we first bought it (pre-owned) we had an intermittent problem with the front blower not working. In troubleshooting that it seemed as though the "techs" had torn into the problem and never located the culprit....The relay had a manufacturing defect; as did the rest of the identical ones in the van. After ordering replacement relays (From Japan and not Tennessee as were the factory ones) it has worked finer ever since. Sometimes it is worth it to buy parts that are built correctly !!!

Best Vehicle Ever Owned
This has been a great van. Bought new in 6/2005 and has over 122,000 miles on it. Only problems were maintenance items: tires, brakes, batteries, timing belt, alignments. Runs just like it was new.
Disappointed
We initially were excited about this vehicle. We are a family of 6, so an 8 passenger was a must. We bought this mini-van with 77,000 miles and thought it would be an upgrade from our 2005 Dodge Caravan. Within 6 months I had to replace the rack and pinion, and radiator. Within 12 months the passenger rear door would not open from the outside when below 40 degrees and the Air Conditioning compressor began to "rattle". Within 18 months the other rear door began to have problems. Now at 124,000 miles the shifter is loose and I am nervous that my wife and children are going to be stuck. The caravan had 180k miles with nothing done to it but brakes, struts/shocks, and a water pump.

Love the Sienna Best carI have ever owned
I bought the Sienna with 50000 miles. It now has 150000 and both my wife and I LOVE it. I am a car connoisseur and have owed a lot of vehicles in my 63 years. This is the best car I have ever owned. I did not know the timing belt needing replacement at 100,000 mile and found out when the car had 140,000miles but got it replaced at the local Toyota dealer and also found the radiator was starting to leak so had my local mechanic fix that. Other then that, it has been brakes, tires and oil changes. The digital read out says we get an average of 23mpg. The car rides nice, and has a great A/C. Love the independent front and rear heat a/c controls. & adults are not a problem. Only issues are the spare tire location (difficult to remove and replace), the middles seats are removable but very hard to get to snap back in, and the driver's door hold back broke. Not bad at all for a 12 year old car with 150,000 miles.
