From day one anything that could go wrong did. Replaced battery in 3 months, brakes and rotors at 28K miles, tires 30K, miles, door hinge broke, sliding door hinges rattled, seat belts locked up, struts and mounts replaced @ 60K, transmission and torque converter problems start at 45K, at 94K are terrible, still have extended warranty so of course Toyota can find nothing wrong with it. Have also replaced fuel speed sensor, rear air vent goes on and off by itself. Toyota won't fix that either. (guess I have to wait until the extended warranty is up) Windshield whistles??? Very, very, frustrating. Let's not forget replacing the spark plugs 35K miles too soon. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!

I am really disappointed about the quality of 2005 Toyota Sienna. It has 112,000 miles and about 8 months ago things starts braking one at a time. Here are some of the issues I have uncounted. * Tries are rotated at every 5,000 miles and alignment at every 15,000 miles still Tires wear at an angle. * Cracks start appearing on the dash board, now cracks are expanded across entire dash board. * Power steering rack start leaking on the both ends and dealer wants $1,800 replace it * Rubbers hosing that holds antenna broken and other rubber items stats cracking * The glue that holds glass to the windows motor came off . * Tailgate struts broken rear door does not keep up.

Sienna wheel bearing woes

Owned Sienna for 4+ years now. Only 120,000 kms on vehicle and both front and rear bearings simply worn out. Very expensive to replace, as both bearings and hubs replaced same time. ($ thousands). No help from Toyota to date, but I continue to ask. Tires were an issue, but they did replace under recall. All toyota AWD vans seem to chew the tires off their rims! We had AWD Previa before and same problem with tires. Power window fell off track and over $400.00 to replace. This is an extremely expensive van to buy, and maintain. Paid over 45,000 taxes in, and still forking out thousands to keep it on road after only 4 years. Most parts are only available through dealer.

This van takes abuse and just keeps on going. First of all, we have over 193,000mi with doing nothing but standard maintenance. Still on the original transmission which still appears to be going strong even though we did tow a popup camper on vacations. I had to have a brake job done on it but that was after 100,000 miles so I'm not too disappointed with that. The engine does not burn nor drip a drop of oil (I have run synthetic oil throughout its life and changed it at 5000mi as the manufacturer recommends). The engine runs strong with plenty of pickup. The only minor issue I've run into is a slow coolant leak out of the radiator at about 150,000mi, but I added Bar's stop leak and that appears to be corrected now as well. Even though it is very old and we have newer vehicles I can't sell this because it is too useful and runs too well.

I purchased the CE (cheapo edition) model new in 2005. I have had only three unexpected maintenance issues. The back door lifters broke at about 150,000 miles which the dealer of course wanted a rip off price to fix but I just purchased on the big A and installed quickly myself. I had a failure in link cable in the shifter that was cheap to fix and a sensor likewise inexpensive to fix. These last two things were at over 200,000 miles so I have no complaints. Think of it, I have not had to replace the generator, the alternator, the starter, the radiator, the transmission, or the master cylinder at 250,000 miles. I do recharge the AC every season now but given the mileage that is expected. This car has been completely 100% reliable and is more comfortable than the new 2019 Sienna or the Honda minivan. I was going to buy a new Toyota or Honda minivan but decided why spend the all that money while this runs so great and I could afford to buy a new one with cash. I spent I believe $22,000 new and have had low maintenance bills (use independent repair shops) so looking at the new cost averaged over years of ownership it has cost me very little per year and still runs great. I bought a new 2013 Honda insight for my other car and that needed an engine rebuild at 36,000 miles due to a design flaw.
