Used 2004 Toyota Prius Consumer Reviews
Smart car, Smart choice
What the Prius lacks in style it more than makes up for in substance. It offers remarkable fuel economy. The annual fuel cost for a Prius is less than a monthly fuel expeness of other vehicles. Another BIG bonus (especially for Southern California drivers) is being able to drive in the carpool lane without needing to have any passangers on board with you. An options package also includes an in dash AM/FM cassette/6 CD changer, with 9 speaker sound system and voice activated DVD navigation system among others, all for under $26,000. The Prius offers the driver to save both time and money. Not many cars on the market today can do that.
Almost there ...
Generally I love this car (so do my 11 yr old and friends). It's fun to drive, quiet, good controls, nice audio, enough room. I had an 85 Corolla that this replaced - I loved it and the Prius is a worthy successor. There's enough power to drive in the Utah mountains and it has a quiet, solid feel on the freeway. It's been cold so the jury's out on the mileage - so far 48 on the freeway but only 30-35 in town and it takas a while to warm the cabin. Visibility could be a little better but it's pretty good.

solid town car
Interesting car that delivers promised economy. Very comfortable communter car with ample torque for local street and freeway driving. Navigation system is unnecessarily complex to use and is also quirky, frequently giving odd or inefficient directions. Averaging 45 mpg on mixture of freeway and city/suburban streets. Freeway milage much higher (45 - 75 mpg) than street milage (25 - 35 mpg).
Excellent Auto
I've had the 2004 Prius since October, 2003. Since then, have delighted in driving it. Live in Central NY State and took it to Florida. Drove 5 miles above speed limit (up to 75 MPH) and had absolutely no trouble. My in-laws live in the Adirondack Mountains of NY State. Have visited there in January,2003 and February, 2004. Car started there in temperatures of minus 36 and minus 31, respectively. No problem.
The car of the future is here now
What a wondeful car! I did own a 01 Prius for 3 years. To drive the 04 model is like stepping into a different dimension. The fully loaded version offers a wonderful voice guided NAV system, bloetooth cell phone system, a smart entry & smart start system, lots of cargo room and is just fun to drive. Oh, I almost forgoth the excellent MPG! Anybody who buys a conventional hatchback vehcile must be ignorant to our enviroment. All I can say "you have to drive a 04 Prius". Sincerely, Rene A. Doess
