2004 Toyota Matrix XR Fwd 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

We have a 2004 model ( 17 years old). This car is so reliable and dependable. Still in good condition. The mileage is already 475,000+. The key is to have a regular change of oil, brakes, pads, and rustproofing. Excellent Car.

2004 Toyota Matrix AWD 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

The exterior is great, sporty, yet classy (best looking economy hatchback) - that's something many modern models can't get right (even the new matrix). The interior is roomy and tasteful, the only problem is the low quality storage compartment under the shifter, it kept falling out. Auto on/off headlights are a must. Seats could be more comfortable ('01 elantra was very good). This car does not accelerate very fast and has a noisy ride. AWD shines on the snow. If you go over 75 mph, the car starts vibrating and otherwise complaining about the speed (although once you push it over 80 it can be smooth). Handling is fine, suspension too soft for sharp turns. High winds push it around at 75+

XR Equals ZOOM!

In town and on the road, my Matrix XR is fun to drive and all around affordable. My advice is read the information on the Net, test drive one and then make own decisions. There is so much bias around that you have to do your homework or you will not get the whole story. After downszining from a 1995 Ford Explorer, my feeling is that Ford is toast! Toyota's quality and pound for pound performace is so far superior that it is just amazing. No more overweight, inherantly unsafe American gas guzzlers for me.

Matrix the swiss army knife of cars

2004 Toyota Matrix XRS Fwd 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl 6M)

The Toyota Matrix has to be one of the best Toyota's I've owned. I have had sports cars, trucks, everything and this car seems to cover each of those vehicles needs perfectly. It's fast and fun as a daily driver, and gas mileage is excellent. Interior space is cavernous on the Matrix. I purchased an 8' Live Oak tree and fit it w/out bending into my Matrix with the hatchback fully closed! Enough said regarding that issue. Exterior wise, this car is very sleek and gives just a little hint of aggression in it's lines. Very nice... Overall, you get a sports car, a truck, and a Toyota all in one.

owned a 2004 Toyota matrix hatch used, had roughly 60k on it,zero problems!Honestly car saved our(wife, and myself)lives. We were struck during construction while stopped by a semi traveling 73MPH.killed both dogs and father in law, broke 3 ribs of my wife(driver) and gave myself a severe brain injury. But 6+ years later-i'm divorced, and healing wonderfully!Purchased a hylander hybrid last december.absolutely wonderful vehicle! I swear by toyota!never had any issues with the matrix-good car for good price! What vehicle would've made out when stopped when struck by a loaded tractor trailer?none that I know of
