Used 2003 Toyota Matrix Consumer Reviews
Matrix XRS.... Awesome
Ive owned my Matrix for almost 2 months now.. and the car is awesome... my previous car was a 1994 Acura Integra GSR... Although the Acura was a "sportier" car... the matrix doesnt fall behind at all... sure, the acceleration was quicker in the Acura, but not by much, and if you factor in comfort, style and the snazzy 6th gear... the Matrix comes out on top... its no slouch, the 1/4 mile a respectable 15.6@91. the car seats 5 comfortably, and had more headroom than needed... If you need to carry something, the Matrix can handle the task well, giving some amazing room with the 2 rear seats folding to a 60/40 position...
Lovin' my Matrix XRS
This car handles very well. Manual 6- speed fun to drive. I got the completely decked out w/ moonroof & 6- disc in dash CD player. Cargo space is comparable to a small SUV. Just overall a nice car.

Gets the job done
I just had my car break down on me, the dealership had it for a week because they couldn't figure out the problem. IT was the VVTI sensor and the oil pan sensor. I was pretty upset considering my car only has 17,000 miles on it. The gas mileage is definitely not right. All in all I have been pretty happy with this car. I love the way it drives.
2003 Matrix
I love Toyotas. 3 of the 4 cars in my family are Toyotas, for they always seem to offer the best in service. I wound up buying the Matrix after being jerked around by other dealers, so my review is slightly biased. The Matrix has really grown on me. At first, I was satisfied with the looks and interior design, but delighted with the Toyota nameplate. Now, I am delighted with the entire car. I absolutely love the layout inside the cabin. I also find the the car to be surprisingly roomy. For a compact car, it seems to sit off the road enough, providing you with a more commanding feel of the road. All in all, I really like my vehicle.
Great car but can't get options we want
I really liked the Matrix at first. A hatchback with folddown seats, great for hauling bikes, for camping trips & it has good gas mileage (unlike most SUVs), plus potential safety features. However, have been frustrated as dealers say can't get ABS brakes without other option packages such as spoilers & fog lights etc. Also none available with side airbags except for XRS, but then you compromise the good mpg and get the spoilers. Takes 120 days to get custom car. So may buy Standard rather than XR, & forgo safety features so we don't have to get stupid spoilers. May look at the Vibe to see their options (they look better too).
