Used 2016 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
Now I know why Toyota is the worlds best selling !
My Highlander is the top of the line with every option. It is very lux and actually an easy replacement for my previous SUV a BMW X5. It is lighter by 1000 lbs and has 45 fewer bhp. The performance is comparable and the quality is superior! I'm looking forward to not having $3000 repair bills to replace an alternator and then an air conditioning compressor.

Great Family SUV
I needed an SUV to cart around my three children and all of their friends but didn't want a minivan. The Toyota Highlander is the perfect vehicle for us. I have the AWD version so that gas mileage isn't amazing but it is good and the handling in adverse weather conditions is excellent. I got a great deal on the vehicle at $34,000 and they seem to maintain their value. A big deciding factor for me is the reliability of the car. I wanted a vehicle that I won't constantly have to be bringing to the shop to fix "wear and tear" items. I don't have the time or energy to waste on going back and forth to the mechanic. When considering this vehicle I talked to my mechanic (that I love and trust) and he said that if everyone owned Toyotas, he'd be out of a job. He stated that Toyotas regularly come into the shop and leave with only scheduled maintenance. The exterior styling could have been more unique for my tastes but it is classy and pretty sleek so I'll take it. The interior even at the LE Plus trim level is excellent. It is stain resistant cloth through the middle of the seats but trimmed with synthetic leather. After a month of driving it, my kids haven't managed to stain anything yet. I also love that the middle seats slide forward (without having to remove the booster seats) to access the rear seats. You can also slide the middle seats forward or backward in many different positions to allow for more or less leg room in the third row. Having 8 seats is such a blessing. I find that I often keep only two seats up in the third row to give myself plenty of cargo space. I am looking forward to driving this car for many years to come.

After 2 years of research
Very happy with our choice, my wife and I love our new Highlander. It is very smooth and refined, very comfortable seats and great interior. We chose the Oh la la rouge red witch I have to say is kind of a cheesy name for this red color but whatever it's great to look at. The V6 engine has lots of power in the high rpm range and it really gets up and goes when you put your foot in it. I'm not having any of the problems other reviewers are having with the entune system, it does take some learning and getting used to but it works well when you know how to use it. I do find myself missing some options on my XLE AWD that come standard on the limited version like blind spot monitoring and automatic seat settings, those things should come standard on a suv that cost 37k+. At the end of the day I think the highlander is the best looking 3 row crossover on the market and I have faith in it's reliability even though we've only put 2000 miles it to date. I will come back in the future and update this review.

Great vehicle except -
We bought a 2016 Highlander Limited. 1. Gas mileage is overstated 10-15%. 2.Front Passenger seat is too low, if not electric (ours) cannot raise, so uncomfortable armrest and window height for a lady. Our drivers seat is adjustable up & down, so okay. 3. Electronics are not well designed. 4. GPS poor, 5 Keyless locking system poor - won't unlock all doors when opening, 6. Blue Tooth terrible - if a cell phone is 10 yards or more away and being used manually, it will close the phone conversation with the other person and transfer the phone into the car's system! 7. Turning off vehicle power is tricky. 8. Gas tank is far too small. With normal driving must refill in less than 300 miles.

Nice car with a few glaring flaws
Overall, the highlander is a good car. Soft ride with good acceleration...but you have very little feel of the road. Everything seems very well put together and of high quality. Basically, this seems like your typical Toyota vehicle. However, the instrument panel seems to have been designed by someone new to the technology. Most of the options won't save as default, the GPS is horrible, and trying to use the touch screen while driving is too distracting. The menus aren't intuitive, and thingshe that should be prominent one click buttons require use of sub menus. These are things that you don't notice on a test drive, but really get on your nerves after having the car for a month.
