Used 2009 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
Love my HIghlander
Bought this vehicle used with 95000 miles on it from a one owner who took great care of it. I've had the car for over a year and could not be happier with it. Its a V6 with plenty of power, lots of cargo and occupant space. It even has a third row seat which we never use but keep flat in order to carry groceries and stuff. The only minor issue is when the car is cold started there is a slight vibration coming from the motor but goes away when it warms up. Gas mileage is fair for an SUV. The ride is smooth and not stiff like many SUV's. I would recommend this car to anyone and would buy again.
Good Solid Value
Traded a 2003 Ford Explorer for this car. Plenty of room inside for people who are tall and larger in size. Rides very nicely and car handles the road good. The 6cyl gives you plenty of power. Inside interior is nicely laid out.

Money Pit
I've owned my Highlander for over 2 years, and I've had one problem after another since day 1. I had to have the dealer fix the driver side window that wouldn't roll up. Several days later, the passenger side started acting up. I put it off repairing it for over a year by not using it and manually pulling it up when it started sliding down on its own. Once I had the passenger window replaced, the oil cooler hose ruptured - a common problem with Highlanders - and I had to save several hundred dollars by repairing it myself. The repair process was an absolute nightmare, just look it up. Now my evaporator core is ruptured and that is going to by, by far, the costliest repair yet.

Dissapointed
I left GM for Toyota with the expectation of a better vehicle. This hasn't been the case. My Highlander has made eight trips to the dealer to address problems. The problems: defective gas tank, of all things, which had to be replaced; incorrect fuel gauge reading (on its second sending unit and still not fixed); dis- colored dash panels; on its second XM receiver and all within 5,000 miles. The Dealer has been very helpful, but perplexed at times at the Highlander's oddities. Now, I wonder if the unintended acceleration bug will be next! I did not have as many problems with the Buick I traded in on this Highlander. What an unexpected disappointment this Highlander has been for what it cost.
Great Product
I love this car. It is like a fine swiss watch. I am averaging 26 MPG with the 4 cylinder. My car has the trailer towing package. This made it a much stronger vehicle. I had to order the vehicle to get the towing package, but it was worth the wait.
