Used 2004 Toyota ECHO Consumer Reviews
Great Car
I get great mileage and that is important since I'm in college. Lots of head room. I've not had one problem since I bought the car.
Fun Subcompact big value
Toyota fit, finish & reliability. Fun to drive and great on gas. Great in the city & on the highway. With the 5 speed manual gear this little car does real nice in the performance department too. For people with two young kids and need for just a bit of luggage or as a second car, this car is great! (5man/HB)
Great Car
Excelent car. On average I get 39 miles to the galon. The bigest problem I have with the car is the salesmen were realy pushing that you can go 7500 miles between oil changes when in reality if you read the manual 5000 is more like it unless your drive in perfect conditions. But 5000 miles is not bad and the car drives great.
Long Term Economy
One of the most desirable features I have found with the Echo is the motor and drivetrain. It has excellent performance for a 1.5L motor - I assume this is due in part to the Variable Valve Timing. There is no timing belt that will need to be replaced in a few years, it uses a timing chain. There are no spark plug wires that need to be replaced either. I agree with the Edmunds review that the styling is not as desireable as the Scions which use the same drivetrain.
my favorite
This car is the first toyota that I have owned. It has proven to be a very reliable vehicle and has weathered this awful winter in the northeast without any difficulty. I frankly love the location of the instrument panel although I see some are not so happy with that. The only thing that I miss is a rear window wiper.
