Why do so many Reviewers lie on this car ?
So everywhere you look there are reviews from Edmunds, Car and Driver, Road and Track ETC that say the 2019 Corolla SE just isn’t fast and it’s slow compared to other cars. But being an owner myself that isn’t true. I’ve raced many cars that on paper make 30 more horsepower and have flat out beaten them. And there is nothing done to the car. Nothing at all. I don’t even have tint on my windows. Yet my car repeatedly on highway drives out accelerates cars that by paper stats I should be walked by. And that’s the thing about this car. If you go by the reviews and not your own experience you will be lead to believe this car is going to be a drag to drive. But the SE model that k have is far from that. It’s a true sport compact sedan in terms of handling. And I am a guy who has driven some fast cars. So I’m not saying the 2019 Corolla SE model I now have is a rocket ship. But I am saying it’s faster than given credit for. Just understand because it’s a CVT if you stomp the gas pedal the “first gear” is a long SLOW climb up the RPM’S till about 4500 and then it really takes off. It’s a light car but Toyota clearly lied about it only making 132 horsepower. The Ford Ecosport AWD makes 166 horsepower and it’s a small light CUV and I’ve walked that thing many times. It had a superior power to weight ratio and a real converter transmission. The CVT from Toyota pass it’s fake first gear is a great responding gear. Gives you the power when you need it. But I just had to say the reviews are wrong. The car is a sport compact. All sports cars and sedans aren’t vehicles going 0-60 below six seconds: or the Miata wouldn’t be considered one. Sometimes the slow cars are good too. The SE had minimal body roll on steep turns. The tires hold up well considering this isn’t a Michelin Sport tire. Brakes bite once you really press the brake pedal but I will say the initial bite isn’t where I would like them to be. Sometimes you really have to press the brake coming say off the highway to a traffic light. The Radar on my car constantly beeps when you pass slower cars on the highway. The interior to me is not as cheap as the reviews from Edmunds would have you believe. I mean it’s the best selling car for a reason and for some reason Edmund’s and other companies who review cars always give the Corolla a hard time cause they spoiled by all the fancy fast stuff they want and get to drive long term. The interior is no nonsense and appreciated. Minimal touch interface means you won’t have to worry when things start to break downs compared to more interfaces cars that have touch capacity everywhere. The gas mileage is great considering my lead foot and I’m not too kind when it comes to picking up speed. I am an enthusiast after all. Corvettes are my dream car for reference. Love the headlights especially at night and my car in Aqua gets many looks from people especially after a nice was and wax. It’s a nice car for what it is. Not saying this is a BMW killer. Or that it’ll blow your socks off. It won’t. It’s a naturally aspirated engine so you gotta climb those RPM’S to get the juice from it but that’s what makes it fun. No boost means you gotta learn throttle input and how the car responds to it. Wringing out the good stuff. Best you can without a manual. I got my car at 43,000 miles so I am very blessed to have such a reliable car at such a low mileage. I just had to write my own review because if you read reviews from the OWNERS and not the Edmunds crew you’ll see many people rave about this little car and love it for what it gives. And we the people who live and depend on the car day in and day out. This isn’t a one time drive thing. It’s a gem for those of us who know. Best part is in Atlanta you don’t see many 2019 Models and especially in my Aqua color SE trim.

Rough ride and road noise
for a new car and the Toyota name the ride sucks. I feel every bump even the sign painted on the road and then the noise from outside. I have Firestone FR740 P215/45R17 on this auto. Toyota should do better at least some comfortable shoes for the price.
