Used 2010 Toyota Corolla Consumer Reviews
The joy of steering
Got the car on the last day of 2009 for two reasons: needed a new car asap since my car was totaled, and wanted to avail of the sales tax credit for 2009. Car is okay, very bland people transporter, but the great gas mileage makes up for it. Complained to dealer after two weeks from purchase about "wandering steering"-not sure if it was related to tires, alignment or the steering system. Dealer tells me they have never heard of this complaint and to bring it back later if problem persists so they can check. And now here is Toyota claiming the Corolla steering MAY have some problems. Fun times ahead for all of us new Toyota owners.
Corolla 2010 - Great, save the Steering
Bought this car after many solid reviews (all before it became known about the acceleration problems). Initially thought the steering was different (electric assist), but that once used to it, it would not be an issue. Wrong. Toyota needs to step up to the plate and resolve the high speed (highway) wandering it does. The hydaulic system was far superior and the change was made purely as a cost cutting move. Gas mileage has been as advertised, and have had mileage figures from 33.5 to 38.5 mpg (the gauge is off by 2 to 3 mpg as it shows getting better mileage than you actually are). Frankly, if the steering issue could be resolved, I would rate the driving experience much higher.

Not Sure Yet.
I previously owned a 2004 corolla and was excited to purchase the 2010. The interior is much nicer and feels bigger than the 04. Didn't consider other brands due to the success I've had with Toyota's reliability, resale value, and quality. The 2010 model has had recalls but the items I have noticed have not yet been recalled. (See Cons). Gas mileage is great and 7000 miles have gone by without an issue mechanically.
Disappointed
I traded in a 2004 Malibu for this 2010 Corolla. I wish I had my Malibu back. The only thing I like about this Corolla is the gas mileage. The car floats all over the road with the steering, is not comfortable, and hard to see backing out from 45 degree parking.
Not a Bad Car
Full tank, I get about 360 miles before the gas light comes on and refill is around 11 gallons. Overall I'm satisfied with the car. The recall was a system wide measure that Toyota took to make sure that they would gain our confidence and I'm not concerned, knock on wood. They even said that not all cars are affected. Steering is a problem, the car veers from side to side like having a gust of wind hitting the car. I could never keep the car straight on the road, it gets worse as I gradually increase speed. I took it to the dealer to check my alignment and it fixes the problem...mostly. I would still feel a slight drift, but not as bad as before.
