Used 2005 Toyota Corolla Consumer Reviews
Toyota Corolla
Car drives like a dream.
Great package
I have a 2005 manual CE with C Package (canadian model). Comes with AC, power package, cruise and remote door locks. Roomy for it's size, large doors and high seats and driving position are a plus. Feels solid on the road and the body is tight. This is important, since montreal and quebec probably have the worst roads and climate in north america. The engine is peppy and willing, even at low revs, while delivering superior fuel economy. Steering and suspension are both firm, but not overly so, and offer good control. The interior is well designed with very good controls. Radio/CD is big and simple to operate. Indigo blue ext. with grey int. is a good mix. Great package for the price
Stylish, sporty, & safe
I've only had my new '05 Corolla (S model, AT with extra value pkg) for a little over 24 hours now, but I'm in love. It's an awesome compact car. Toyota has great reliability history. It's so easy and fun to drive. Gas mileage is great. I've heard people complain of engine noise, but my car is nice & quiet. The interior is simple, but nice...and user-friendly. As for my car's sporty red exterior, I love it. The Corolla's the way to go if you're looking for an all-around great compact sedan. The LE models were very nice, too, but the sporty S fits my taste better as a 22-year-old.
Best compact car for the money
Bought the automatic CE model new in late 2004. 4 yrs and 131,000 miles later it has exceeded all expectations. For its size it has the most trunk space, interior room, gas mileage (always more than 33 and as high as 42.5), pickup, and best overall handling. Comfort is so-so but I'm 6'1" and my head doesn't touch the headliner. Some wind noise at highway speeds but far quieter than previous car ever was (1997 Saturn SC1). A/C works superb even on a 105 degree day. This car has never stranded me and aside from tires at 40K and 100K, brakes/plugs at 60K and 125K, and O2 sensor at 34K no mechanical failures or parts whatsoever! Toyota built this one right!
An excellent little car
Pro: 38-42MPG, peppy, looks like a million bucks, comfortable ride, 'Toyota reliablity', lots of room (esp trunk). Con: really poor stock tires, 'squeaks and rattles', no variable wipers, no telescoping steering wheel, 'butter-soft' paint and windshield. I love this car. Its economical, has a strong engine, and is very stylish (IMO). Since everyone gushes over new cars, I'll say that the OEM tires are complete JUNK, the paint is so soft you need 3M protector on within the first 50 miles, the windsheild looks sandblasted after 8000 miles, and I have various small squeaks and rattles here and there. That said, those problems are not nearly enough for me to not love this car.
