Are you sure this is a Corolla?

This is our first NEW car and we LOVE it all! LOVE the great gas mileage; am filling up half as much as I used to with the same size Nissan. I thought the visor/rear mirror problem was a silly flaw also, but the rear view mirror is on a ball & socket joint and can be moved right quite easily - problem solved! The ONLY negative thing that we have dealt with on this model is that the 5spd doesn't come with a leather wrapped shift knob like the 4A - NOT FAIR! It's a vinyl that gets HOT in the sun. We have Toyota getting us a leather cover :) A few changes and minor improvements (which anyone should expect from a redesign) would make this car anyone's dream!

As a single parent and college student, I just wanted a car that would take me from A to B safely and worry free. I got more than I bargained for. The dash and front panel are made with quality material. This car can really get around. I do 99% city driving in Manhattan and sometimes the Bronx – I put this car to the test against serious automobiles. It handles very well in traffic that demands maneuverability. It could afford better shock absorption, faster pick-up and a quieter engine. But considering the price, the car drives like a dream. Plus, My daughter loves the space in the back.

Disappointment

Having bought Toyota in the past and knowing of corolla reliability and fuel economy we purchased ours used from a dealer with 60000kms on it. I drive all highway. It has cost us a transmission rebuild (it's a manual) for differential bearings and now tranny won't shift into fourth all the time. Wheel bearings go quickly and car is so loud from wheel/bearing noise you have to yell to be heard. I'm done with Toyota.

I would have to say the carolla has come a long way! I was soo impressed by the look and feel of this car that I was sold almost immediately. The power of this 4-cylinder especially impressed me. Coming from a V6 on a 1994 car, I was a little worried that a 4-cylinder would drag. Not so, this little car packs a punch. I would recommend the sporty beauty to anyone looking for a reliable car with a glamorous look.
