Toyota Takes Camry from Stodgy to Sporty

2019 Toyota Camry SE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 8A)

This car is really fun to drive even though I have the 4 cyl, it has enough ponies (203) for a sporty acceleration (The V6 at over 300 HP has too be lots of fun) and very nice handling . I only put on 1,000 miles so I'll need to update this but the sporty styling and handling for this sedan with great gas mileage is a great balancing act. The Entune 3.0 is Ok, but not a big minus as some make it out to be, but then again, just my opinion etc. I have the SE model, with added options like Sunroof, Upgraded radio with multi climate control and other features. I saw some complaints on the 8 speed auto, but I have put it through it's paces (hard) at various speeds up to 80 mph, and the upshift and downshift was smooth as silk. I am not saying the others didn't have these issue as I read the early 18 models had some difficulties, and most solved with a firmware update. Any car, new or not might come with manufacturing defects but hopefully that's a small percentage, but no one wants that when it happens to them, and I get that. Gas mileage, and I drive 25 miles each way to work and 40 % is expressway, and the other 60% city and it gets pretty jammed up (Chicago) trust me, and I averaged around 32- 33 mpg and that was better than my (much smaller) 2013 Elantra Limited. Lastly, I pick this car because many car are just GAS DIRECT INJECTED engine, (Some also have stop and Go) and some even come with Turbo charging combined with DI engines, are prone to carbon problems simply inherent from the DI design especially on the valves (other areas as well) which all manufactures are aware of but have no choice in order to meet Gov mandates. Toyota solves this problem by having two injectors per cyl, one is a Port injector, (spray gas on top of the valves that trickle into the cylinders, and keeps things clean) the other is the direct injector. The port operates more at idle and slower speeds and the direct takes over in situations that require more power. So, this should alleviate the problem that most if not all DI will experience. (And it not a question if it will happen on DI engines but when!) Anyway, I found the seats comfortable, the controls well laid out and the driving position good. The suspense is sport tuned but not harsh. Will see how things are 15,000 miles from now, but so far, very happy and no complaints. I have had 2 other older Toyota's that I bought used, and two had over 100K and I never had an issue with them. So I am expecting with proper care , the same results. I have to Append my opinion on Entune 3.0. My phone a Alcatel ONYX, (I know not a popular brand but I liked it) would not pair to their system. I went to Toyota and found out that my phone was not on their list. WHAT?? this phone was Bluetooth connect with my 2013 Elantra, and everything else but not their system??? That's awful. Anyway, I bought a LG phone (Not expensive) and it paired up beautiful and now everything works seamlessly, but still, that shouldn't happen because how would the buyer know? Now after 8K miles car still great. Made a nice long trip of 1,000 . It handles great w plenty of power. Shifts smoothly at all ranges.6\7\20.

Jerky and slow

2019 Toyota Camry LE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 8A)

I’ve had a two year lease on Camrys since 2013, so this is my 4th Camry. I’ll start with the positive: comfortable, roomy trunk, good gas mileage. Cons: this car doesn’t want to move! It has a jerky start from a full stop and when shifting gears (automatic transmission), it hesitated momentarily. Slow to accelerate when you step on the gas. Overall, not impressed and i’m Stuck with it for another year and a half.

Sooo Elegant

We chose the 2019 Toyota Camry LE Over the Toyota Camry SE because the LE’s handling was more comfortable and the ride was smoother. In addition, the LE has a more elegant body while the SE is sporty. We would have purchased the SE except for the inferior handling. Although the seats are comfy with electronic positioning, we chose to upgrade the seats to leather. There is plenty of room both in front and back seats as we have large teen boys with legs. We love the electronic lane detector ad well as front & rear vehicle motion sensors. We can now fully access our iPhone features on the screen monitors. We are loyal to Toyota because you can depend on their vehicles to need little servicing past 200k miles. The 2019 Toyota Camry LE is a truly smooth and elegant ride. We highly recommend it.

The cabin area is a little tight for this model. I don't have a problem with this due to my size. Recommend test drive before buying.

Entune 3.0 is junk. Incoming calls or texts kick you off Scout GPS and you have to start nav all over again?. Also having to tether the phone for navigation is a pain.
