Not the best choice

Over the years the car has not done well, time to sell - the VSC is OFF, light on dash - will cost $600 to fix a $600 option, the gas gauge stops at 1/4 tank. 8 years of below average, constantly small items - trouble w/ stereo, woofer blew out, squeaks, had interoir parts replaced. In 2nd year of ownership, the leather peeled off steering wheel. That was replaced under warranty. Hopefully they got better, disappointed overall.

Becoming more and more disappointed

This car has truly been a disapointment. Though roomy, the ventilation system is terrible - can't keep both the front and backseat passengers comfortable at the same time. Dash board electric panel goes out from time to time - the dealer can't seem to fix it. A truly overrated and overpriced vehicle - can't wait to dump it!!

Great Car

I've only had the car for 2 days and I'm very satisfied with it. The leather seats are outstanding and the ride is just comfortable. I've had a 1997 camry for a year and it does not ride nearly as well. The camry has lots of body roll and the Avalon does not (It has a firmer suspension).

We've switched to Toyota

Ok, we've officialy gone Toyota since GM dumped Oldsmobile (fools!). My Parents were considering Camry, but I wouldn't allow it as there are just too many. I found them an Avalon a few weeks ago & they instantly fell in love with it (had it home within 2 hours!). It doesn't handle like a big car at all & it's about the same size as the 92 Lincoln Continental that we had years ago. Mom loves the dash display that has the compass, date/time, and fuel economy info. I really like the JBL Sound System & the one-touch sunroof control. Dad's sold on Toyota; said his next car is going to be a Lexus as my younger sister will be well out of college by the time they get another car.

Used Toyota Good Value?

Ok first off this isn't my car, it's my fathers, I am in transition to a new car and drive this car to and from school (100 mile commute) This car is reliable and has a near smooth ride but that's all it has going for it. The thing rattles like no other car I've owned. This includes the dash, all 4 doors, seats make squeaky noise, center console rattles when stopped. The one thing I like about it is the stereo is decent but any louder than normal voice volume and the doors rattle insistently. This car rattles more than my old 89' Toyota pickup 4x4. The car (when purchased) had an oil jelling problem and luckily it was a recall and Toyota fixed it no charge. Thought Toyota lasted but not this car.
