Used 2000 Toyota Avalon XLS 4dr Sedan Consumer Reviews
Solid car
I live in the NW and this is my girlfriends car. She has owned it since day 1 of its life and takes good care of it. Miles; 126K Pros; Dirves great, good gas milage, stars every time, dependable, and is comfortable for long hauls. Cons; In the last 2 years things have started to break/fail. She has replaced the key ignition twice for 2 different reasons. Some rattles have started to show up, it is 10 years old. The sub-woffer has a short, we found out it's in the stereo it self.
Great Car
This car has been in my family for almost 8 years now and is still going strong. It rides and drives wonderfully, and the only problem we've had with it was with the automatic choke a couple years ago; we took it to our local Toyota dealer and had it fixed. The mileage is pretty good (about 23/city and 28/highway) for a car of its age. It has withstood rough roads and has over 170,000 miles on it (taken one trip to Disney World (16-ish hours total) and one trip to Savannah, GA (18-ish hours total) and was driven several miles to work and back most of the time with no problems). All in all, this car is a downright champion.
Excellent choice
Before the purchase of my Avalon I drove a Nissan Sentra for about 9 1/2 years and loved that car because of the reliability. Now in the Avalon I feel the same but with extras ex. the interior, the comfortable ride, the room as well as the sound system. I am really enjoying the car even though it was used when I purchased it, I feel that I made an excellent choice.
Vehicle performance and comfort
Since I purchased this vehicle back in Nov 99, I have never had a serious problem with the vehicle. I service it according to the manufacturers book, not the dealers. Vehicle runs smooth and quiet. Seat comfort is great. Have a small back problem and my previous vehicles always gave me a problem; however, the Avalon, no problem. On the exterior design I gave it a 7 because I do not like the exhaust system hanging low on the vehicle. I notice this on a lot of Toyotas. Other than that, I love the vehicle.
Best Buick Ever
When my new 2000 Acura TL arrived, I couldn't get comfortable in the driver's seat (6'2", 220 lb) so I canceled the deal and bought the Avalon XLS instead. Back then, I thought it was ugly and definitely a compromise. Now, it looks "classic" and the lines seem much cleaner, and it has been 100% trouble free, but too much is sacrificed for ride comfort. I found *huge* improvements by upgrading the shocks (KYB), tires (Michelin Exalto 225/50x16), and brake pads (Red Stuff)... and the roomy front seat has spoiled me for some otherwise very good cars.
