Used 2005 Toyota 4Runner Consumer Reviews
Mileage
Well built. My disappointment is with the fuel economy. The range I get has never been more than 380 miles @ an average of 17-18 miles/gl. I actually get higher mileage in town than on the highway. I can sometimes get up to 20 miles/gl in town, but never more than 18 on the highway.
POOR FABRIC ON SEATS
The material used for the seat trim is dark gray in color and reminds you of suede or soft leather. It is very nice to look at when clean, the only problem is it does not stay clean. It collects any dust, lint, fuzz etc. that is in the air. And requires cleaning every other day or so just to look decent. You will have to carry a lint roller with you. The dealer only offers new seats for sale at full price.

Don't Buy A TOY!
This is primarily my wife's vehicle and she was reasonably happy with it until she broke it! She performed an emergency stop and the transfer case exploded!!! $3200 later she is back on the road but we now treat this like the TOY it is. This is the third AWD vehicle that has been in our family and the first that she managed to break. There were only 51,000 miles on the vehicle at the time but it was too old for any warranty claim. We approached Toyota USA and they made it clear they were not interested. So we lost interest in replacing our BMW X5 with A Lexus in light of this. We are now trying to decide if the TOY goes before the older BMW. UPDATE: Nearly a year since we dumped the TOY and bought another BMW. NO REGRETS!!! Never buy another TOY and will stick with real vehicles from now on. UPDATE: Still no regrets after dumping the TOY!! Never buy another.

LTD 4WD 4RUNNER
I traded in a Lexus ES 300 for my new 4Runner and I get almost as good gas mileage with the SUV (16-16.5 city) as I did with the lexus (17). The 4 runner drives beautifully and is well made.
