I'm a big guy 6'3 and this vehicle turns out not to be the most comfofortable in long trips....but it is great in bad weather which I did buy it for that reason I have a long commute and I'm in law enforcement and have to get to work in all kinds of weather.

I love this truck. It has off-road capability, but it handles and rides on the road like a dream. I bought the sport model and the build quality and the way it feels is well worth the price. It doesn't have as much room as the others in it's class, but I can still take the wife, kid and dog and tons of stuff. This is going to replace a 98 explorer. Granted the explorer is 6 years old, I didn't have the confidence for safety, quality and reliability in the Ford as I do in this Toyota. When people found out I had one, everyone had a story about the incredible reliability and it's apparent in the way this car drives and feels. Tons of standard advanced features, check out toyotas site.

The Total Package

Highly recommended for anyone considering purchasing an SUV. After driving BMWs for 16 years, the transition was relatively easy. Although the 4Runner is built on a truck platform, it drives like a car. It tackles bumps on the road with ease and offers a smooth ride. Deft touch in regard to road handling; negotiates curves with little sway. The base V6 offers more than enough power if you don't plan on towing a boat or trailer. You don't need to punch the accelerator to feel the surge of power. The list of standard features is considerable compared to others in its class. Comfortable and roomy second row for passengers. Toyota reputation for reliability and quality was a huge selling point.

Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned

I bought this car new in 2005 and I couldn't be happier. I travel a lot for work and put a great deal of miles on this truck. Other than replacing the tires at 90K miles (yep, you heard right, 90K miles) and a new set of front brakes, I have not had a single thing go wrong with this vehicle. If you're in the market for a good looking, dependable SUV then the 4Runner is a great deal.

Better the Second Time Around

This is the second 4 Runner I've owned. The upgrades made inside and out since the 2000 model I owned previously are wonderful. The improved ride, handling, comfort and temperature controls are really nice. I wish they had the dial for engaging the 4WD in a different location though. There have been several times I accidently put it in 4WD without knowing it until I looked at the dash gauges. I love the game type temp. control buttons. The little hidden features like the back seat cup holders/table top and the trash can holder are great features. I find the cargo net pretty useless though. It doesn't seem to work very well. Bottom line, I love it and will buy a 3rd!
