Toyota quality?
This is probably the vehicle with the widest gap between the design concept and the built quality that I ever owned. While the engineering and the design concepts are right on, the rattling and the squeaking make any trip an irritating experience. It appears that the Moon Roof is a major source of rattling.
Fresh of the Lot
Purchased 2003 2wd 4runner last night. Our research all came to an abrupt halt after seeing the new 4runner bodystyle. This is the PERFECT mid-sized SUV. While the highlander has nearly the exact same sized interior/cargo space, the wimpy V6 and mushy brakes and less-solid feel kept it from being a contender. The Sequoia is just too frickin big for inner-city use. With our first baby on the way, the 4runner fits the bill. The fit and finish of the leather limited model cockpit is as good as a lex or mercedes.
4Runner 2003
the new v8 has out of this world power. it is a definate upgrade from the prior v6. dual climate control for both driver and passenger is extremely well thought up. the 4x4 drive system is complex and requires some intense reading for understanding. the all wheel drive works wonderful and overall handling is a definate plus.
