Most Underappreciated SUV

2003 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

I'm 19 years old and have had two 4runners, a 1999 and a 2003. I test drove every midsize SUV and some full size before I bought the second 4runner. I kept telling myself that I should get something different but this vehicle just fits me so naturally. Everyone who I let drive my 4runner comments on how stable, predictable and comfortable it is. It's also very capable off road. It seems no one has fully picked up on the 4runner's excellent traits. There's still way too many Explorers on the road.

Sporty, Rugged and Fun !!

I really enjoy my '03 4Runner Ltd. After researching all other midsize SUVs, I selected the 4Runner (after waiting for its release), and after 5,600 miles, I'm convinced I made a great choice. The 4Runner is a quality- built vehicle inside and out, and it's very fun to drive. The engine is smooth, quiet and has very quick acceleration. In addition, the JBL stereo with the 10 speakers and 6-disc CD changer is absolutely awesome. In summary, I'd recommend the 4Runner to anyone looking for a quality midsize SUV. Most (if not all) others are substandard choices!

Best all-around SUV

This is my first 4Runner...I owned a Ford Explorer prior to this and it doesn't even compare. The handling on this truck is amazing (w/ X-REAS). I opted for the V6 due to a little better gas mileage. Go for the V8 if you plan to tow anything very large. This is the best all-around SUV in this segment and is not a glorified minivan (unlike the Honda Pilot).

I wish I had It Back

My Toyota was one of the safest on the highway. Involved in a major accident on 1/23/09. If I had been driving many other vehicles I would not be alive to write this review! Unfortunately, my Toyota was totaled, but I was not. I enjoyed just about everything about my 4Runner. I just wish I had it back. Don't know that I'll ever be able to replace it.

I drove every mid-size SUV on the market and none could really compete up to the level of the 4 Runner. Great looks and the muscle of a full-size SUV. I'm not real fond of the dash, the Highlander and Montero have a much nicer look, but it stops right there. The ride and handling cannot be beat. Very comfortable around the city or on a long drive. Power that WILL put you back in your seat. If your looking for a mid-size SUV this one can't be beat!
