2000 Esteem GLX Wagon
Since I purchased my Esteem Wagon in July of 2001, I have had one problem. About a week after I purchsed it (it had only 10k miles), the passenger seid front brake pad "de-laminated" itself from the mounting surface. The dealer covered it under warranty and not one thing has gone wrong with the car. Although it has a propensity for blowing brakelights. I have put 12K miles on the car since purchase and it has been a pleasure. Better than any US brand I have owned in the last 10 years.
Amazing little thing!
I bought this car in 2001 with 8,000 miles on it. I Still have the car and now have 130,000 on her. Besides normal oil changes, tires and brake work, the only thing that I have needed to change was the valve cover gaskets! It was a snap! When needed, you have plenty of power. Okay, so it's not a Monte, but what do you expect? It's a little 4 banger! Never once has it not started, and has never stalled on me. All in all, for the money, you get a really good running very realiable car.
Suzuki 2000 Esteem Wagon
Only general maintenance since purchased 4 yrs ago. Will look to purchase another Suzuki in the future. Only drawback is the limited room in the front driver side. Seats are a bit low for someone under 6 feet, but some added car seat covers helped to correct this flaw while protecting the front seats. No problems with exterior to this point, no rust visible anywhere.
Not Horrible
I bought the car new in 2000 and faithfully do tune ups. I had a problem with the catalytic converter at 48,000 miles. The warranty covered PART of it. Then the catalytic converter went out again. I contacted Suzuki and they would not cover it. I now hear a 'rattling' coming from the engine every time its rpms are over 2,000, which is not so good if you need to pass emissions:)
Durable little beast
Well my 85' lincoln died so I walked across rte. 112 to the first dealership i saw and bought this little Esteem. The guys there helped me get financing because my credit sucked at the time. i haven't regretted my impulse buy AT ALL> The esteem's a great little car that I have beat the s^&* out of and took on several long trips <NY to Buffalo>....knock on wood I've had no trouble with it at all. It has some speed too.
