2000 Suzuki Esteem GL 4dr Sedan

It has been a great little car. I know I was not getting a sports car but for what it is I love it. I have taken it on a few long trip and have had no problems. I think the clutch is going out but that is the only thing that has happened. I have driven it like a teenage. I have not been the nicest to it but it still runs great.

I bought my 2000 Esteem sedan with 30K miles for $5500. What a buy! This is a solid little car that is fun to drive and costs very little to operate (30+ mpg). It has a very roomy interior, and a good sized trunk. The engine's performance is good, however it strains occasionally when climbing steep hills. It cruises at high speeds rather easily and has good short range acceleration. Overall, this model is a great car for the money.

I had the manual stick shift version of the 2000 suzuki esteem. owned it for 12 years... i have driven it back and forth from washington to california numerous times. I am now at 227k miles! never neeeded anything fixed that wasnt maintenance such as brakes, clutch, etc... not the most comfortable, but the most reliable. finally need to replace some parts for the wheels and definitely general wear and tear, but i cant say enough... times i forgot to put oil in it, it ran miraculously, 35 mpg consistently...

2000 Suzuki Esteem GLX 4dr Sedan

I am the original owner. I bought it in 2000 as a dealer employee car. I paid $9,000.00 for it w/ 45 miles on it. It now has 138,200 and only thing it has had is brakes, battery & tires! Plus regular check-ups! I hate to part with it but the time has come. So will replace with another Suzuki. I am more than happy with the preformance of my Esteem. Great on gas. 36-38 mpg. I certainly got my money's worth! Best car I've ever owned!

This is my 2nd Esteem and a favorite of my current cars. I found my 2000 GLX wagon on craigslist for $2500.00 with only 92k miles. It has every available option and is in excellent shape. I bought the car as a spare vehicle to save miles on our much more expensive Toyota Sienna. My daily driver was a deisel VW Jetta. But after the Jetta had a mechanical problem I started driving the Suzuki. That was 9 months ago and now the Suzuki is my daily driver. I love the reliability, gas mileage and hauling capacity of this GREAT little car. I do all the work on my cars and I can tell you Suzukis were designed with a mechanics input. They are cheap and easy to service and the parts are still available. Don't let the fact that Suzuki motors is no longer in business scare you off. This has driven the prices down and that is a plus in my book. If you loved the reliability and ingenuity of the cars Honda designed back in the 80s and 90s you will love Suzuki. These are great cars and I'm going to be looking for more of them when my kids approach driving age. Update: Feb 2018....still have my Esteem GLX wagon. The car has 140k miles now and other than an idle control valve and alternator, the car has been trouble free. I hate to recommend one of these as a first car for a teen because new drivers tear up cars and that reduces the number of these great little cars. But my son is approaching driving age and I’ll have let him use this car (sigh).... On the plus side I loved my Esteem so much that I decided to buy another Suzuki. I now own a 2009 SX. This is now my daily driver and I love it too. All wheel drive and every option for less than $7k. Love it. Buy a Suzuki and get these guys back in the US car market where they belong.
