Used 2010 Subaru Outback Consumer Reviews
Need some improvement to be fun to drive
I drive mostly city, but took one road trip to CO. Car needs some power especially when trying to pass vehicles on hwy. I like the comfort of the car and the features (can be pricey if you add few). It needs a bit of power kick to be "Fun to Drive" and to eliminate some of the road noise. In Midwest performs OK in the city, but with 2.5i not so great on mountains of CO. CVT is a good concept but will need some work to be done to use with bigger engines. This is a large vehicle that need power to do what it should be. Interior is nice, exterior did some improvements, could be done better but better than last year.
Good but not Car and Driver car
I have had Subarus and this is not the top car of its time. I bought the car more as of being loyal to Subaru than the performance. It is a roomy car and will get you from point A to point B but not with performance of previous Subaru like my Subaru Outback 2005 Auto. The CVT transmission is good for fuel saving but not performance. When you rev your engine the acceleration is more of a small little moped than a big car with a lot of power. The engine is underpowered for this big of a car. The appearance of the new OB is relatively nice. I like the interior better than exterior. Interior is nicely done and does not feel so cheap. Exterior looks more like GM or Ford car now. Need a bit spice.

I'm lovin' it
I've had it two weeks now and have put about 300 miles on it already. I'm absolutely thrilled with it. I had a BMW X5 prior to this and to be blunt, I like the outback better! It is peppy, drives like a sports car, gas mileage is fantastic (comparatively speaking) and it's so quiet inside. This is my first Subaru and I wish I had thought to buy one years ago. I'm totally in love. And since it's so new, I get tons of looks, stares and compliments! We can't wait to take it to the beach or on a trail! My recommendation - RUN, don't walk, RUN out and get one as quickly as you can.
Only get's better
Last week I came upon a brand new Jeep stuck in a four ft. snowdrift. The owner (a 20 something male) was testing his new car in the snow. I drove into the snow drift next to him, rolled down the window and offered to call the tow guy. Sheepishly he told me his dad was coming. Put my Subaru into reverse and drove away. This weekend was in Tucson parked at a resort surrounded by 100's of Lexus (the official car of golf resorts) I watched as several people passed by and looked at our car, puzzled as to the new look. My biggest fear was to get run over by an out of control Lexus. In summary, Subaru - rough and wild in the woods and civilized and classy when needed.
Best Outbak Yet!
This car is great! I have owned 15 cars is the last 12 years. Including 7 Subarus. This new Outback is so similar to the Tribeca in terms of ride quality, feel, etc. that now Subaru is going to have to upgrade that vehicle to maintain its flagship status. Awesome ride quality. Great fit & finish. Love the CVT transmission. Stock stereo sound quality is the best Subaru has had yet. My in-laws liked the car well enough that they went & purchased one too. Now it looks like my parents will be trading in their Outback for this updated version. Great car Subaru! Keep up the good work!
