Used 2005 Subaru Legacy Sedan Consumer Reviews
Rides Hard
I test drove 7 vehicles before buying my Subaru 2.5 GT LTD.(auto). I like the car a lot, however the ride is 'sporty', i.e. rides a bit hard if you are coming out of a car like an Accord V6 like I was. Power is great. The left-side rearview mirror is distorted and getting replaced (dealer was helpful, no problem). I miss a few things like radio controls on the steering wheel. I have the optional subwoofer and the radio sounds great. I find the seats a bit hard but finally found a good adjustment for me. No turbo boost gauge. My first tank I got 19.6 mpg., fair enough considering I was in the go pedal a bit. I love the way it looks, mine's black. So far, so good. I recommend it.
Coarse engine spoils otherwise great pac
The overall concept and package is excellent. The handling dynamics are about as good as you can get in a compliant riding sedan. The punch from the turbo engine means that you can really achieve some quick pace in the twisty roads. The downside is the coarse behaviour of the engine during moderate acceleration with a stuttering type response until you get past 5k rpm. This is not turbo lag but feels more like a fault in the engine management system. The dealer indicates the car behaves normally, however everyone who travels in the car comments on it
A Wonderfully balanced car!
I must say this is a car that does it all well. It is a very comfortable and quiet car, it is quite fast and handles well, it has AWD and should do very well in bad weather, and is reasonably priced. It can be very fun to drive or comfortable to cruise in. It even comes in wagon form if you need more space. There's not much more you could reasonably ask for in a car. You can have your cake and eat it too!
Subaru legacy 2.5 limited
I have only one complaint about this car. No mp3 option. That is it. It rides nice, has lots of power and can take a pretty good hit with minimal damage. My wife was rear-ended by a neon traveling 70km/hr, black ice, wrote the neon off. We have only 2 small cracks in the rear bumper and a plastic plate benieth the car for damage, about $900 CAD. My wife had a sore neck for roughly 7 days, but is fine now. I will probably never own another make of car if this one has little to no maintenance issues. So far so good. Average milage to date, including city driving is about 19mpg. These miles were hard ones. It got roughly 25-29mpg on highway trips, averaging 125-140km/hr(75-85mph)
Great Value
Just purchased several days ago so here are my first impressions. It has a surprising amount of power for a four cylinder. The manual transmission feels easier to shift than the Impreza. The seats are very adjustable and comfortable. The stereo is pretty good for a factory unit with no upgrades. Mileage so far has been surprisingly good. The car is very smooth and handles great. Quiet ride even at highway speeds. The sound of the engine takes a little getting used to, but it grows on you. The trunk is pretty large and has a pass through for narrow objects. The car features a full assortment of airbags. In all, this is a great car with a lot of nice features for a reasonable price.
