If you live in a snowy icy hilly area it’s great considering other types of snow vehicles don’t get this excellent gas mileage. Interior is terrible, falling apart, and I’m very easygoing and respectful with my vehicles. Climate control is awful, barely heats, cools, or defrosts.

I loved my Impreza for 3 years
I totally bought the the Subaru hype and marketing. We love to camp, we have dogs, we love the planet so was the car for us! And it was great. Until the warranty expired. 100 miles out of warranty the clutch started squealing and we had to replace the clutch assembly. I contacted Subaru and to their credit, they went ahead and repaired that for free, my faith was restored. Then I started noticing other things, the weather stripping is falling off, the interior is deteriorating, the tires wore out WAY too fast, we're constantly replacing headlight and fog light bulbs. Then the brake light switch recall came, right around that time our horn stopped working. The cost to fix the horn was nearly $1000 (at the dealer, cheaper at an independent shop). The car is less than 4 years old and has 48k miles on it. I had a 1984 Volvo 240 DL w/nearly 300k miles on it, it RARELY needed repairs, certainly not with the same frequency and at the same cost as this damn Subaru. I'm bummed, I wanted this car for life, now I can't wait to get rid of it. :(

Excellent small car
I purchased my Impreza used with 80,000 KMs 3 years ago . I'm up to 115,000 KMs and still love this car. Handles better than my old 2006 Volvo S40. It drives smooth and tight. My tires have yet to spin even once during the winter. I just press on the gas and it goes. Gas mileage is great for an all wheel drive. So it doesn't have the acceleration of a race car. Buy the WRX for that. Liked this car so much, bought the wife a Forester. She loves that too!

Solid but lack luster
Looses its speed of excelleration within first $30,000 miles. Reliable and easy to drive. But lack luster in general. Paint is poorly conditioned and easily chips with road pebbles. Tons of road noice and any cargo makes it bog down significantly. Handles in winter but only with added weight to truck and not in snow due to snow packing up around wheels really bad. No ground clearance.

An Imprezaive car for the cost
This car has been reliable however I have had constant issues with my cars interior. Be it the windshield columns on the inside being loose, my drivers side door arm rest falling apart so badly I could stick my fingers inside of it, my little cubby area being fixed 2 times now and is messed up again or my weather stripping falling apart. If I knew what would happen owning this car I might have looked around more.

Transmission bearing faile at 85,000
Don't know if my problem is anomalous but the transmission bearing "disintegrated" and clutch master cylinder rod "overextended and fell out"- quoting the mechanic.
