Tires look great but aren't very good in the snow should use better tires for snow use since car is sold to be used in snow. A lot of small problems brake noise, fuel filler cap broke,Ox sensor went.

Owned it for 4 years now and it's generally well designed and engineered and a solid car for the price. However, if Subaru wants to remain competitive with it's main competitors, it needs to pay attention to some interior details below and offer the little "extras" that give custormers satisfaction. And it's absolutely necessary Subaru offer a 7 passenger "sport wagon" or I will certainly be trading in for a (Acura) MDX or equivalent in 2-3 years.

Reliable on everything

Bought it new and have had minimal repairs and total reliability. Have replaced both boot cover for axle (too close to muffler-bad design) and at 160000 am replacing timing belt. Only minor expected brake part replacement and tires. Drive on dirt roads and in the Rocky Mountains and it is great. I drive a great deal and never feel I am at risk. This car handles snowy roads very well. I have even gone off the road into a ditch (my stupidity) and was able to keep it upright and get right back on (snowy dirt road). So I am guessing that rollovers are not common. If that had been my old explorer, I would have rolled. Best AWD around as far as I am concerned

Replace The Tires!

The Forester is a pretty good little SUV, but could stand some improvements. The front cupholder position is terrible, as others have said. The original Bridgestone Duelers lasted less than 24,000 miles. I replaced them with Yokohoma Avid Touring tires from Tirerack.com and found a great deal of improvement in ride and handling! And apparently, all Subaru service dealers are trained the same way. Nothing is ever wrong with these vehicles that isn't "normal for that model!" When my lease is up, I'll be looking at the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav4 as a replacement.

Continue to have electrical problems with Headlights and Blinkers. Fixed 3 times, always comes back. Dealers have been great to deal with, always think they have it fixed
