Could be better, my 2nd VUE and my last

I actually had another VUE before I bought this one. The old one was a 2004/man.transmission. 4cyl. engine. I liked it more, but it was totaled in an accident at someone else's fault. I survived at least 6 full tumbles down an embankment--I credit the safety features of the VUE. After that experience I only felt safe buying another one. New one is a 2006. Things randomly fall off--hubcap, side door panel. Had to pay to be replaced. Interior stains easily-- wish I had gone for the leather, instead. Buttons on the steering wheel randomly stick (despite detailing/cleaning) and things go haywire. If I could go back, I'd get the V6, the leather, and the AWD. Don't get the basic model.

This has been a great starter family vehicle for my family. It has a spacious interior and a comfortable ride. Simple styling, not over done. With a 5-star crash test rating to boot, this is an all around great vehicle.

12 years on, still best car I've ever owned.

It's a crying shame that Saturn closed down, as this car in particular is a superior vehicle. Better than the Toyota, the Honda, the Hyundai, or the Ford I owned over the years. The only car that came close was a similar Isuzu, and that company, too, went under. Too bad, as you'll see Saturn Vues and Isuzu Rodeos all over the roads, out-performing their newer competitors. My Saturn, which I bought used 4 weeks before the dealerships closed, had been under water up to mid-engine level. Carmax said nope. So I drove it across the street to the Saturn dealership, which had detailed info on every aspect of the vehicle. The manager told me that I was correct, that though the odometer showed 33,000 miles, the engine had been completely replaced with a brand new engine at 30,000 miles. So essentially, I got a 2-year-old car with shy of 3,000 miles on the brand new engine. Moon roof, tinted windows, not too low to the ground, not too high up in the air, great A/C, JUST RIGHT. And believe me: The plastic side panels are life savers. WAY ahead of their time. I put in a new entertainment center 2 years ago, got it for Christmas, so I now have Bluetooth, etc. But occasionally I miss the CD player. My original speaker system, standard with the model, is excellent. On the highway, and even in the mountains, this car pulls its weight with ease. If people want to take off from a light at warp speed, fine. I don't need that on city streets. On highways, it easily attains and maintains high speeds. If I have to trade this car out (its being 12 years old), it'll be either for another Saturn Vue, or a low-mile Isuzu Rodeo. Great car.

I've only had my '06 VUE for a week, but I have to say my faith in American automakers is being revived. This is a fantastic vehicle. I love driving it. The 4-cyl has ample power with the 5- sp. transmission (and anyway I am more looking for gas mileage than power). The interior design is attractive and quite functional. I haven't noticed any squeaks or build problems. The Vue handles great on the road. The price was fantastic compared with the higher- priced Honda CRV. I love the VUE!
