Saturn SL2

We bought our SL2 with 17k miles. It now has 106k. The interior is well designed but the seats are low which causes difficulty getting in and out of the car. The Ignition failed at 18,000 miles and a water pump fail at 80,000 miles. which isn't bad. The engineering flaws we've noted include an inherent problem with the front brake rotors causing the wheel to shimmy especially when stopping. We also have major rust on both rear rockers which is obvious when you open the back doors. It also burns oil and has since about 65k miles. Engine compression is great so no idea why but it uses a quart every 2000 miles.

We have had all the maintaince performed by saturn but things still break. We can not use the left rear window because it jumps its track and will not go up. The left front lock on the door is broke, and just the other day the button on the parking brake broke off. In the past the moon roof was stuck opening and would not close. The car had problems with the spark plugs and the wires to the spark plugs corroding a couple of times. The cable to the stick shift broke a few months ago and the car was stuck in reverse. Saturn built a car that seems to break real easily and that is why I will never buy another saturn.

This vehcile has been a compliant nightmare. It's cost me thousdands in repair. Had I have purchased it brand new it probally wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately purcashing a used vehicle was the only way I could afford a new car at the time. I've replaced the engine, fuel pump 2-3x, fuel filter, flushed the fuel rails, waterpump, along with the normal regular schedule maintence done to a vehicle. And I stil owe 4500 on this car that isn't worth 5.00. My advise to anyone buying a car, do your homework first. This includes wehre the car is from.

I am a big man and this car has plenty of room. It rides great and gets great gas mileage. My daughter loves the stick shift. It is a very quite ride and general maintance is easy.

This is the first car I ever bought, and I liked it so much I now own two! Never any problems ever with eaither of them. Looking at some of the other ratings really upset's me. Those who say they have all theese problems so the woulden't reccomend Saturn, especially the one who bought the car with 120,000 mi on it. What do you expect with that milage, probably form a private seller. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Saturn dealer are happy to give the Service hisory for ANY Saturn out there. That's what I did and I got two gems. Saturn's are definatly better than there foreign competition. 115,000 miles and and exterior that sines like new is proof to that.
