I am the 2nd owner of this Aura XR. I brought it in Mar 2011 with 10,200 miles on it. It's a beautiful looking, well-optioned car with good performance and handling. I cannot wait to be rid of it because it has zero reliability. Its been to 2 different dealers in the past 3 months for electrical/computer issues which can not be found. They car will refuse to crank after short trips, then restart on its own after 10-15 minutes, usually accompanied by a random warning light (never the same one). Both trips to the dealer were the result of all gauges malfunctioning, all warning lights & messages coming on, and all electrical systems (like traction control) shutting off while driving.

Aura: nice mix of GM's best stuff

Our Aura XR is our fourth Saturn, and shares garage space with an XK-E, TR3, and a '29 Ford hotrod. This car combines great performance, style, and reliability with super dealership support. The XR is a fine daily driver, but great for motoring trips. Quiet, really quick when using the Allison 6 speed paddle shifter in manual mode, and sticks to the road like no sedan we've ever owned. Directly compares to the Lexus ES but the Aura handles better. The Caddy 3.6 with VVT is silky smooth and hard to tell when it's running: the tach is necessary. If this car is indictative of the new models Saturn has in store, with their excellent dealerships the marque will be more popular than ever.

Thus far I have owned a total of 17 new vehicles in my 56 year lifetime, 12 of which were foreign including VW, Subaru, Honda, Mazda(1 ford engine), and Isuzu. I have owned 2 Saturns. The first one a VUE V6 SUV which I purchased because of the Honda engine. The second is my Aura which I just purchased. Unlike the VUE it is all American which makes me very happy knowing that I finally found a domestic vehicle that is up to par with the foreign competion.

I have to start by saying this was the worst car I've ever owned. I purchased it in 2010 just 3 years old and within the first 3 months the problems started. The car only had 45k miles on it and the transmission crapped the bed. I did purchase a power tran 3rd party warranty so I wasn't to worried. I had the car sent to a specialist and had it back a week later. Everything seemed fine until I lost the transmission a second time one week later. Back to specialist it went but this time. They replaced the transmission with a used one rather than rebuilding it a second time. Once again I got the car back and it seemed fine. Just 9 months later I parked the car after returning from work with no issue until the following morning when I tried to leave again. The car wouldn't start. I had it sent to a Saturn tech who advised me the timing belt ( or chain not sure) broke and the motor was junk. I couldn't believe it. I was so sure he was wrong I sent the car for a second opinion yet the outcome was the same. The motor had to be replaced, and the kicker to the whole thing was the warranty company this time refused to pay. They instead reimbursed me 60% of the warranty cost because they had to pay for the transmission. When everything was all said and dont I spend 4k dollars putting a new motor in the car. The day I got the car back I took it straight to a dealer and traded it in. I did like the look of the car, the power it had and some of the interior features but overall it was a terrible purchase and one I would never forget.

My 2007 Saturn Aura

At first, I did not think I would be driving a Saturn. I test drove so many cars in the $40,000 range, from BMW, Lexus, Audi, and Mercedes. For the money, I found my Aura to stand right up there with them, as far as performance and style. It has the bells and whistles of any of those cars and more. The car looks rich, feels rich, is sporty and conservative at the same time. I love my Aura.
