Used 1996 Saab 900 Hatchback Consumer Reviews
Great car
It being my first car I am very new to the whole car scene but for an entry level Saab it is nothing less than what I hoped for. The pickup and speed on the vehicle are tremendous. The sound system has been great. I just added subs to it and it made it even better. Overall it is a great vehicle. I was lucky that when I bought it had only 22,000 miles on it and it is a great car.
1st time Saab owner
I've had the car for about a year. I love the turbo performance and tight handling. I had to replace a tonneau cover motor which was really a surprisingly easy to do.

I LOVE MY 96 SAAB 900 SE TURBO
I PURCHASED MY FIRST SAAB IN 1990, A 1984 900 SE, AND I HAVE NEVER REGRETTED THE SAAB CHOICE. THE REPAIR COSTS ARE INFLATED, BUT THE STYLE AND FUN TO DRIVE FACTORS ARE UNMATCHED. MY CURRENT 96 SAAB 900 SE TURBO HAS GREAT POWER, A COMFORTABLE CABIN, AND GREAT OPTIONS. DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPROTANCE OF THE HEATED SEATS AND THE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROLL OPTIONS. FOR THE MONEY NO OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD HAS THE UNIQUE STYLE AND CURB APPEAL AS THE LATER MODEL SAABS. I FEAR THAT GM WILL DESTROY THE SAAB MYSTIQUE BUT FIND COMFORT IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT OLDER SAABS WILL BE GRACING THE ROADWAYS FOR MANY YEARS TO COME.
Best purchase ever
I bought my Saab 900SE used and have had an incredible experience with this vehicle. I These make great values on used cars - I bought a 1988 and drove it over 250,000 miles with normal maintainance. The 900SE is fun to drive has power when you need it, great in the inclement weather, great view from drivers position and great cargo room. I have never done anything but change the oil, and regular maintainance on tires breaks etc. I would definitely recomend this car to anyone who wants a great used value.
Won my heart, hurt my wallet
This was my first car in High School and I absolutely loved it. I bought it from my parents and it was about 14 years old then. This car looks amazing, gets about 27 mpg while driving agressively, and is excellent in winter weather. I drove the manual transmission model which was great fun. The engine was zippy and the car handled like nothing I have ever driven. However, in the 2 years I owned it the tranny went out, it needed a new exhaust system, the ignition module went, the clutch went and what eventually killed it was the headgasket blew. I loved this car and still do, but I could not afford the repairs. They were too expensive and too frequent. I sold her with a broken heart.
