very pleased
I bought this car with 115000 miles on it. It now has 141600 on it and has been fairly trouble free. Its fuel efficiancy for a large car is remarkable. The 3800 series II moves this big car very well. I have been very happy with it since the day I bought it and I'm afraid to get rid of it someday. Other than the upper intake plenum blowing apert one time and sucking all the coolant into the engine, I have'nt had any other big problems with my 88.
Olds 88 Royale
This car has plenty of interior space in both the front and back, lots of headroom, comfortable seats, and good visability. It also has a nice large trunk. It has plenty of passing power, but I am disappointed with its gas mileage. Also it Uses a lot of oil. Unfortunately, this car was not all that reliable. The alternator and water pump went out at around 45,000 miles followed by assortment of other parts which failed way before you might expect. The susupension was SUPER SOFT. The car would wallow with the slightest bump.

Great Car
I have owned this car for 7 years. It has GM's legendary 3.8 Liter V6. Puts out 200 spunky horses. Nice space in the cabin. No cheap plastic console to sit next to. This is a great car. It is no "accident" that GM hit the skids shortly after they stopped making Oldsmobiles. The car has rubber cushions on the bumpers - not just a cheap piece of plastic waiting for the first nick. Until GM can (or anyone) can build a car this great again - I will just keep running it.
88 keeps on rollin'
I bought my 88 with 110,000 miles and it now has 155,000 miles. I have replaced the front struts and water pump. Just recently, the anti-lock brakes light came on, but brakes work ok. The car runs good and averages about 21-24 mpg.
great used buy!
Bought car for $6K and love it. Changed ignition module and horn stopped working. Had to install universal dash- board horn to pass inspection. Cost $65. Module cost $250. It just runs like a charm.Has security chip and security theft protect radio. Had local co.repair drivers seat to firm it up. Seat makes popping noise. Plastic near windshield vibrated, so put cardboard there and noise stopped. Engine is GM3500 and runs flawlessly. That's why I bought car. I expect 10 more years on it. Electric windows, seats, antenna work flawlessly. Don't let gas get to empty. This car is indestructible. Love it!
