Used 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora Consumer Reviews
Don't think I'll ever part with this classic
I was the second owner when I bought her in 2000, she had 82k on the odometer. She turns 25 next year and has 212k on the odometer at present. She has a minor oil leak and the check engine light comes and goes, but she is regularly serviced and my mechanic takes good care of her. She has a few dents and scratches, mostly due my husband... But I don't plan on parting with her and it's fun seeing people trying to figure out what she is. Those that recognise her, are mostly people who once had one, and they all said they wished they had kept theirs. I just hope she keeps going as long as I do....

VERY UNDER RATED
Extremely good handling, and very fast. Surprisingly good fuel millage for the cars weight and performance. Oldsmobile sold this model at a loss, until changing body style in 2000. I am told that Oldsmobile sold the Aurora at a loss, so they could meet the minimum requirements of sales so GM could use the engine at Indy. This is a vehicle that you love to drive. The power and handling are very addictive. The interior is very plush and extremely quiet. This car does everything well. Parts and repairs can be very expensive, like all luxury performance vehicles, but WELL WORTH IT !!!!!@

Worlds most expensive lawn ornament!
I was warned and didnt listen! My Aurora has been one headache after another. Well $5000 and ALMOST a year after I bought it, there it sits in the driveway, day in and day out. Why you ask? Because the wonderful aluminum Northstar engine WARPED and is leaking antifreeze into the engine. But I must give it credit it LOOKS fast. I just went out and bought a Maxima yesterday. Now my husband and I are trying to figure out what to do with the lawn ornament that doesnt even water the grass! BE WARNED DONT BUY THESE CARS. When they are running they are wonderful but they are WAY to expensive to fix CONSTANTLY!
piece of crap
If someone is honestly thinking about purchasing one of these automobiles, think again!!! This has to be honestly one of the worst cars GM has ever built! Along with its crappy interior the ride sucks, thats if u get it started!! This is really a pile of crap!!!!
Open hood, insert wallet
Car drives like a dream. However, it has not proven at all reliable. All repairs are big ticket items; super expensive! The aluminum block v-8 is a particular disappointment. Runs like a champ ... but a complete reseal at 100,000?! That poor engineering, and it will cost you $3000.
