I bought my 2000 with 245000 miles on it for 1700.00. After replacing the cv joints, heater core, front struts, rear shocks, front bearings and front drive shaft bearings, it is like a new car. I would drive it anywhere.

I own the 1999.5 Pathfinder base model XE and it's a great vehicle hands down. Just exceeded 217,000 miles and I've never had a problem - ever. I do take care of it however. I change the oil and rotate the tires every 6k miles. I change the trans. fl. every 33k miles. I replace all seals, the water pump, the oil pump, timing chain, etc. (Nissan's recommended maint.) every 100k miles. I have the brakes checked every 60k miles. The engine still runs like the day I bought it (I've been the only owner). Interior has held up well- but pass. window is real slow. Exterior still looks good- never been garage kept and I hardly ever wash it. For the abuse I've put it through, a great vehicle.

It's in very good condition despite its lack of check ups when my dad drove it for years (he was always busy) and it's a very solidly built car compared to our other cars. I usually just drive to school, work, and the store with no problems whatsoever. Handles very well, and blessed with the AWD during the winters. Although rusting a bit on the front of the body by the bumpers, those are just external things not so important to me. The gas mileage isn't great, but it's gotten me from point A to B successfully and safely every time, and I'm so glad we've kept it for me to drive. Currently at 140,000 miles, most likely more, and going strong. This thing can run for YEARS!

I was passed down a 2000 Pathfinder from my dad recently.. He got it new and I received it with 150K and was running fine. Since then, I've put 35K on it and have had no major problems. This car is one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever had. Starts fine in the freezing cold, 4WD works perfect, has never broken down, however, there are a few electrical problems. Most of the console lights don't work, seat heater indicator doesn't work, sunroof only opens by repeatedly clicking the switch, and the 6 CD changer broke and got jammed before I replaced it. Other then those small cosmetic issues, it is a great car and very reliable.
Would buy another in a heartbeat!

Bought my beloved pathy used in 2010 with 155kmi on it, had it for 3 yrs till it was totaled in an accident. We were rear-ended @ 50 mph & only had some bad whip-lash. It still drove, stopped & shifted fine after the accident so we drove it home. We brought the mileage up to 203kmi due to frequent trips from upstate NY down to SC & back. Never had ANY problems with it on any of those long trips. It never broke-down on us in 3 years. Only had to do basic maintenance over the years (brakes, oil changes, timing belt etc). Overall, no big complaints that would stop me from buying another. VERY solid & VERY reliable! Money well spent!!! Nissan got it right!

I bought this pathfinder in 2009 with 183,000 miles on it. It cost $3500.00. Over the past seven years I have replaced most of the normal "consumables" that go out on these like, struts, tires, shocks, brakes, belts, front CV joints and oil. Last month I had to put in a $200 dollar brake booster and haven'e had any "problems" that left me stranded.. My ignition switch wore out at 220,000... You know, the normal things that last 100,000 miles and are usually scheduled for replacement before that. I did the oil changes as I wanted and I'm still driving it with 289,500. The passenger side window switch won't roll up the window. It will roll down and that's the only thing that doesn't work! This is a great car and reading reviews, Nissan should have left it alone for a few more years! It leaks and burns a little oil, but I plan to replace the timing belt, the front seal and valve cover gaskets soon. What can I complain about at a quarter million miles? Gas mileage....?

Some of the reviewers really amaze me. Do people really feel maintenance items are a reflection of a car's quality? Having to replace tires, brakes, shocks, etc. These are not reliability issues. These are regular maintenance items for ALL vehicles. My PF now has 110K miles. I've had to replace a bad Speed Sensor, and worn suspension bushings. The vehicle starts up without hesitation every day, runs great, and will get me wherever I need to be. I've had many other vehicles that start falling apart at 50K with major mechanical issues. If these cars require some maintenance, its because they run an awfully long time. I'd rather have the burden of maint. than another car junked.

Vehicle is great even though I don't need an SUV. 50,000 miles on only oil changes and a wheel alignment. The dealer, Country Line Nissan, did rip us off on a CD Changer, which we paid for but never received. What we did receive was hollow promises and shuffling back and forth between sales and service. I gave up; they won.

I bought my Pathfinder for $1,200 last year with a little over 200,000 KMs on it. Since then I've gotten it a fresh safety, new ball joints, inner and outer CV boots, transmission flush, new control arms, new gas tank and filler neck (last owner never washed the damn thing and my tank rusted out) new battery and other regular upkeeps like oil changes ect. Now all she needs is front end axles and struts and it'll be like new. I got over 245,000 KMs on it now and still drives mint. Lots of power when I pass on the highway, great handling. No complaints other then I wish it had another gear!!! Revs high and sucks all my gas if I go over 110km lol. But overall awesome and I love it :)

Bought this Nissan with 99.000 km (Canada), sold it 3 years later with 143.000 km. No issues whatsoever, absolutely reliable, rattle free, firm ride, no squeaks. Started every time in any temperature without any hesitation. Only dislike I had was underpowered engine and Pathfinder's feature of not locking the torque converter until the engine is hot. When you get on the hwy with cold engine, it seems like the 4th gear won't shift in. I actually thought first that it's a bad tranny :-) Other than that, awesome vehicle. Oh - gas milage is poor - got 15 mpg in city, maybe 16 on hwy, light foot. My 04 4Runner has better milage and more power, but not as smooth ride like Pathfinder

In 8 years of ownership, the only major repair was the replacement of the ignition key switch after 3 years. Other than that, just tires, oil, etc. Performance is OK, fuel economy is fair, interior is nice, driving position is excellent, AC held up well during 7 TX summers. This truck is bulletproof.

Bought this car with 75K miles for commuting, and also for occasional off-road use. With regular maintenance, this car held up through mud, rain, snow, ice, and more off-roading than I expected. Very few problems with this car, the transmission started slipping around 160,000 miles, but it just kind of corrected itself? Also, since I bought it, the back passenger-side window won't roll down on it's own, you have to operate it from the driver's seat. Today, this car just passed 200,000 and still no real, major problems.

This my wife's car so I just started driving it. We've had it since 33,000miles and now were at 115,000 and we've replaced brakes, struts, fuel filler hose, tires, and oil has been changed every 5000. NOW its in need of a new knock sensor and even before this, it seemed like it drinks gas. I have a Chevy Tahoe and it does better. Im going to replace the air filter and spark plugs and see if that helps at all...All in all not a bad little SUV. Great in the snow too.

Approaching 80k miles now and in the 6 years i have owned this vehicle it has required: 1. Oxygen sensor replaced at 50k - about $100 2. Exhaust worn out and replaced at 75k -probably due to amount of snow driving and salty roads up here in Canada 3. Tires replaced at 50k and 80k. I am very happy with this truck, it never breaks down on me.

I have loved my Pathfiner ever since I bought it. If you don't like powerful, fast engines, pathfinders (2000 model and below) are excellent SUVs, very reliable. I feel safe and secure in them no matter what the weather conditions, though in slippery snowy and icy conditions, pathfinders have a lot of limitations when engaging 4X4, especially in turns and uphill.

Safety of anti-lock brakes, and conveniance of on demand 4wd enhance the overall apeal of this vehicle. Excellent reliability and durability track record are a definate plus.

I'm quite pleased with this vehicle. My only complaint is the underpowered engine and the abysmal gas mileage. It seems to rev a little higher than it should during any type of acceleration, and it hunts for gears when decellerating. Other than that, it's fit and finish is second to none for the money. An all-around sound investment.

Bought new and have never done anything but routine maintenance. Tight handling and has used tires like a Mack truck. I finally relented and started to carry 26 lbs. of pressure in the tires and have 40,000 miles on my current set of Yokohama HT-S Geolanders. Have done some very hard four wheel drives with this vehicle and only broke one shock. She still takes us skiing all winter and never complains. Expect to still have this Pathfinder in 2020 just like my 1991 Nissan truck.

My 2000 Nissan Pathfinder is Rock soild. My Pathfinder has 60000 miles already and other than regular scheduled maintenance I have only purchased a battery for this automobile. In fact I brought my wife a 2001 E Class Mercedes and she drives the Pathfinder everyday and not the Benz! She told me the Pathfinder is slow (3.3liter) but she (Pathfinder) feels soild and is dependable.

Maybe I am reviewing this thing too often, LOL. Just wanted to check in as it passed 100K a month ago. Haven't had to put any money into it lately, but did put about $2500 into it in 2007-2008. It got new wheel bearings all around, a new pulley, new timing belt and water pump, new exhaust, sway bar bushings, and the differential fluid changed. That was a lot of money for two years, but it hadn't really needed much until it got to be about 7 years old and had 80K on it or so. I think that' pretty good. Any old car is going to need repairs. Also, I retired and now I realize that the gas mileage stinks, LOL! All those years I was driving mostly highway and getting 16. Now it's all suburban and 11

I bought 2000 PF in 2001 with 9k miles and haven't looked back! This car has taken me through alot over the years. In 2004 I was in a accident and the car flipped on it's side . .major front end/side damage, but I walked away without a scratch! My insurance copy paid for all repairs and I am still driving the car today with no problems. Just reg maint. and old changes every 3000k. Car is currently at 77k. I plan to drive for another 10 years or more.

Bought in 10/2002 with 36k. Not much by way of maintenance to report until the last couple of yrs. Pretty reliable. I did get stranded early on with the Ignition, but then NOTHING out of the ordinary until 125k. Maintenance: @ 60K replaced Ignition Key Switch-$100 @ 75K minor brake work and tires-$600 (including the cost of tires) @ 125K replaced timing belt, hoses water pump etc.-$1200 Now at 140K and the exhaust needs replacing & steering is jacked up. Mechanic says the rack and pinion bushings are deteriorated. Rear shocks need to be replaced--$18-2000. Only going to bring a couple grand in trade-in, so probably going to pay the $2k with hopes of a couple more yrs of life!

I have owned my Nissan Pathfinder now for nearly 3 years, and I have to say that I am very impressed. I am so impressed by the handling of the SUV, it rides as comfortable as a Cadillac or Buick and has had absolutely no problems. The gas mileage stinks, but I knew that going into it. This truly is a luxury SUV for the year. I will drive this until the wheels fall, which will probably be for a very long time, but when it does happen I will definitely buy another.

I bought it new as it seemed like the best value compared to domestics or the Toyota. As it is heavy, the back end can slip on corners (especially on ice). It consumes a lot of gas and is underpowered. On the up side it is very reliable and quite comfortable. I think they improved it in 2001.

We got this car for $13,900 with 70,000 miles on it and have loved it ever since. We did our homework on it to see that is has been awarded a Used Car Best Bet Award for it's overall reliability. The seat warmers are very nice and the climate control works very well. We travel constantly for school and business and it has never skipped a beat. Overall I am very impressed with the vehicle as this is our first SUV. The power is slightly lacking in our 2000 model and I see they upped the engine size in the later models but for normal city/highway driving you won't notice it. Maybe for towing or off roading but we don't do any of that.

Transmission serviced, oil changed each 3000 mi til 99k. Now using Mobil one 15,000 mile oil -changed each 10k - doesn't seem to burn any. I'd drive it across country tomorrow.

I bought this vehicle with 103K miles on it in 2006, I replaced the water pump and timing belt @ 105K miles, the harmonic balancer went out @ the same time and I had that replaced as well, other than that, which as far as I'm concerned are just normal maintenance issues, Excellent Vehicle. I have a growing family and need a bigger vehicle, but I would love to keep this just to see how much I can get out of it.

Excellent design. Smoother ride than other SUVs. Strong suspension for a lightweight vehicle. Good 4X4 capabilities for flat and sand terrain. The 170HP engine not enough for hills and original tires not adequate for mud. Some cool details like power windows work just between turning engine off and opening a door. Brakes apply for a brief moment if transmission put in neutral with engine running.

My 2000 Pathfinder is now 4 years old and going strong. I only have 33,000 miles on it, but use it daily and haven't had any problems. Quality is excellent. Like others, my only complaint is the lack of power and fuel economy. Before this model I had a 1997 Pathfinder and it was underpowered as well, but perhaps even more so. Although I'm not in the market for a new car (I loathe the thought of spending $30k for a car) I'd buy another Pathfinder in a minute.

I was torn between the 2001 model and the 2000 model. Good thing I got the 2000 model which runs on regular octane gas with gas price so high now. I consider myself a typical SUV user. Someone who will probably never take this SUV off the ashpalt pavement except for the dirt & gravel road I took between Nevada and California when there was a major sig alert on I15 and that was fun.

Great SUV and a great look on the road. Underpowered for 2000, but they fixed that in later years. Rear springs are a bit light for holding anything heavy in the back. Seems to have held it's value VERY well. Especially considering all the rebates we got on it. All in all, a great SUV.

We bought this new in 1999 and the models ran out, so Nissan created a 1999.5 with a brochure and everything, but it is a 2000 model SE with the 16 inch wheels. It's gold and with the pipe step racks. Never had any serious repairs, i.e. no timing belts, struts, etc. Change the oil every 5000 miles with the filter and purchased new tires only once in 77,000 miles. Great room in the back and seats 5 comfortably. Extremely comfortable inside and not as big overall as the new ones that look and drive like tanks. The mileage is 18 to 20 on the highway, but 16 around town, but regular gas. It's been a great SUV with a Bose system thrown in when we bought it at no charge.

I bought this car new in 2000 and have had it ever since. I came close to trading it in several times...Thank God I didn't. Till this day, it runs great, sounds great and looks great. Very minimal scratches, mostly because I don't mind hiking it across the parking lot to get to the store. Other then your basic wear & tear and routine maintenance, I've had zero problems. Without question, the best vehicle I've ever owned. The most expensive service I had was an oil leak from a seal that needed to be replaced between the engine and transmission (not sure what it's called). That bill came in around $550 mostly because of the labor. I'll keep this car till it dies, it's a keeper!
