Nothing But Issues
I bought this car with 47000 miles and have had nothing but issues since. I first replaced the MAS, and have since replaced both front ball joints and axles, air conditioner clutch pulley, water pump, brakes, and still have many issues including water leaking in from mysterious places, sputtering upon cold start, and my cd player is also very sketchy. This was my dream car, but I now wish that I had never purchased it. I would have never dreamed that I'd have put over $2500 into repairs in two years while still being under 90000 miles.
BEST car i have ever owned!!!
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!! I baught it with 86000 miles on it now has 98k. mine is a manual and its a blast to drive. This is my second maxima. before this i had a 90 with 228k I have not had one major problem with this car. I only have replaced 2 tires and rear brakes. You can barely hear the car running...its that quiet and the car is really stable at 80mph. I am averaging 22 mpg with all city driving. I got my friend who never said he would like anything but a mercedes to buy one and he is loving this car!!! he likes it better than the 03 e320 his mom has...I cant say enough about these nissans. I will definately buy another....no more honda accords for me THE MAXIMA IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!!
Can't go wrong with a Maxima
We've had this SE since new in 2000. Just change the oil and it needs nothing else. With under 40,000 miles so far we have not even made it to the first tune-up (100,000 miles). The only problem I've had is brake rotor warpage at 30,000 miles. Had the rotors turned (for $10 each) and the problem was gone. The original Bridgestone tires should be replaced with better all-season tires for winter driving (like the Michelins). Believe me, you want the best rubber to take advantage of the power. This car is fun to drive and easily out- accelerates Accords and Camrys.
Excellent Long Term Vehicle
Great vehicle all-around. This car has had no repairs needed in 6.5 years of new car ownership (106k miles so far). Swap out the oil, filters, brakes, fluids, wiper blades, tires now and then and she keeps right on rolling along. Great commuter car.
C'mon Nissan
Have had previous Nissans and have always had good experiences with Nissan, but am a bit disappointed in this Maxima. The service engine light has been on several times and car has barely 40K miles on it, also the springs in the drivers seat squeek and creak all the time while driving, and has been doing this since about 25K miles, it's extremely annoying. Dealers don't seem to help. Have a 2000 Quest and have had several mechanical problems as well. One of the main reasons I went with Nissan was for reliability, I've lost a lot of confidence.I do like the Nissan styling and engine performance, and want to love the Maxima, but can't.
