I have liked the look of the Juke since I first saw it in 2011. Have had mine now for almost 2 months. I average 29.2 mpg in economy mode, which blows my jeep out the water. Sport mode is addictive. The ride is comfortable, I love all the bells and whistles. It handles well, responds to steering and foot pedals quickly. It is fun to drive, the reaction of a sports car with the safety of an SUV. There is not a lot of cargo room, but enough for a trip to the grocery store. Drop the seats down and lots of room.

DID GREAT IN A ROLLOVER WRECK!

R S Miller, 08/29/2015

My husband bough this for room comfort since he is tall and needed good support for his back. He drives over an hour to and from work and had to fill up every other day, bt the best thing is that today he was in a rollover wreck, going 55-60 , someone came across the line hit him, and the car rolled over 4-5 times all bags deployed and he walked away with a few scratches on head. If you could see the car you wouldn't believe it. Nissan Juke stood the test of a bad wreck.

I love my Juke. I was looking for a unique, sporty, AWD for my new car and found all that and more in my new Juke. We already have a minivan, so the small spaces of the Juke are not an issue. Fun, responsive, eye catching. Most of the controls are intuitive and the "manual" CVT option actually works pretty well, giving the driver real control over the power. It has been a reliable, fun and enjoyable car.

I nicknamed it "The Ugly Duckling" because my first instinct was to NOT buy it. However, my husband and son fell in love with it and I agreed because it's a Nissan (this is our 5th Nissan) and a manual (I hate automatic cars). My husband drove it exclusively for the first month until I tried it out. I refuse to give it back! I've been driving for more than 40 years and this car is the BEST I've ever driven. It has incredible power, amazing maneuverability, and is good on gas. There are NO blind spots. Really grabs the road.

Chose Juke over BMW Mini Cooper Clubman

Zoom, 12/30/2015
2013 Nissan Juke NISMO 4dr Hatchback AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
34 of 36 people found this review helpful

This is a small performance car, with features of a SUV/crossover. Don't expect big-car comfort & storage. When searching for a small economical car as an alternate to my GMC Sierra 1500, I narrowed my search to the Juke, Toyota Prius, and the BMW MINI Clubman. I wanted fuel economy, AWD, style and performance. I knew I would be sacrificing space. All three cars had great reviews. The Clubman and the Juke were most similar, with the Clubman being slightly more spacious than the Juke. However, I didnt like the metal track for interchangeable armrest and cup holders. Also, having owned a MINI before, I knew maintenance costs would be higher than the Juke. The Clubman price was about $5k higher than the Juke. The first time I saw the Nismo was on a computer screen at a dealer where I had test driven the JUKE SL. I was really impressed with the trim and the sporty look. I wanted a car that didn't look like everything else on the street, and the Nismo screemed uniqueness. Once the image was in my mind, I couldn't consider another style. The Nismo was hard to find, and the dealers were uneducated about it's availability and release date. Surprisingly I found one high-volume dealer in CT who happened to have two in stock. When I saw the Nismo, I fell in love. The little car was stylish with a bit of sass. The trim gives the appearance of being low-to the ground, with flashy red striping and side mirrors. The interior included wrap-around bucket seats, arm rest with storage, wrapped steering wheel, red trim, and all the technology within easy reach. The Nismo test drive didn't demonstrate much variation from the Juke SL, with the exception of the low-profile performance tire & 18" wheels. Nearly three years later, I still love my Nismo. The responsiveness in handling and the agility make it an ideal car to drive in the city and on the curvy, hilly roads in CT. Shortly after I bought it, I did change the performance tires to all-season & it doesn't feel like performance has been compromised. I typically drive in normal mode, but when I need to pass, or just want an adrenaline boost, I switch to sport and manual shift. Juke Nismo's reliability and safety is good for my family. With regular oil changes and maintenance from Nissan certified mechanics, it's never had a mechanical issue. It has a back up camera so I can see anything directly behind the car. The AWD is one of it's best features. We have been dumped on with snow and ice the last several years, and I live at a higher elevation with steep hills and curves through the neighborhood. I grew up in Colorado, so am used to snow & like driving in it. This car has never gotten stuck, or spun out. The AWD and all season tire has made all the difference. Unfortunately I am in a position where I have to let the Nismo go. I've recently accepted a job that provides a company car. I don't need a third car, & the Nismo is the only one with a payment. I initially intended to pass it down to my 15-year old when she's off to college, but that is three years away. It has been thoroughly enjoyful owning the Juke Nismo. If you understand what you are sacrificing in a small car, you will mot be disappointed with this choice.

NISMO WINS !!

Happy with NISMO, 07/16/2016
2013 Nissan Juke NISMO 4dr Hatchback AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

Have had my NISMO for about 3 years, and Absolutely NO problems with this car. I love it. Gets great gas mileage! The ONLY thing that could be improved is, it is equipped with Summer Sport tires and would be much better with All Season Tires for those who live in snow prone areas; but then a lot of new sport cars are equipped this way. (When it's time to replace them, I'll get all seasons'.) I get many compliments on my NISMO, because it has tons of sporty "personality".... it certainly does NOT look like EVERY other car on the road!! Everybody wants one! Mine is a 6 speed manual. I live up a very steep winding hill. Driving in in "Turbo" is an absolute blast! Great acceleration and grip. Lots of cargo space in the back. Great dealership service. Check one out!!

After an extremely rocky first 18 months when I was just about ready to cut my losses, I decided to give the service dept. one more chance (the sixth time was the charm) The service manager Doug Monaco and the service rep. Brian Valdivia came thru and found an electrical short that was the reason for all my problems! Since then no problems and I am enjoying my car! Still poor mileage but you can't have everything. I do like the car.

Awesome car, but don't expect Nissan to have parts

The car is amazing. While the interior is lacking in some specifics (back seats aren't faux suede like the front seats, interior lighting is almost non-existent, storage lacking for front seats) the exterior aesthetics are awesome. LED DRLs, though they turn off when the headlamps are turned on, skirting to make it look lower, 18" alloy rims specific to the Nismo and a reimagined spoiler. The drive is amazing in a 6 speed MT and the car handles wonderfully on mountain roads. The only real downside is that Nissan cosmetic parts are backordered for upwards of 5 months on these puppies, and Nissan doesn't seem to assist their customers when it's brought to their attention.

Family fun as long as you are single with no kids

Timm Wheeler, 07/24/2015
2014 Nissan Juke S 4dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

Size: First question everyone asks me: Does it feel small? Yes. Very. Which is great when parking in a city or zipping around with it's peppy 1.6 turbo charged engine, but add a few passengers and the ride becomes sluggish and the people in the backseat will be far from comfortable. Ok, it's not a minivan and don't buy it if you have children. Child seats will not fit well revers facing and children feet will be up on the headrest front facing. Trust me, I've done it both ways. It has a rear cargo area behind the rear seats in which you could put thing(s). With the rear seats folded down I was able to get my bicycle in after removing the front wheel. Bring the front seat all the way forward and I was able to get a large canopy tent, folding table and 6 folding chairs in the back. Not bad, as long as you are traveling alone. MPG: The gas milage with the 1.6 Turbo is abysmal. 25 city, 31 highway? No way. Not even close. I've owned 12 new cars in my 37 years and have never seen milage estimates so far off. That turbo will send you into MPG hell if you use it and believe me, you will use it. That's why we bought this fun little car, right? When you feel that turbo kick in and put you back in your seat you are reminded why you bought it. But drive lightly and try not to engage the turbo and you are reminded that it is only a 1.6 liter engine and a weak one at that. I was able to get 26.8 MPG highway on a 2 hour flat drive with cruise set at 65mph, but kick it up to 70-75 and some quick passing and you are around 21. Average city mpg was 17. And don't forget, premium gas and synthetic oil changes are recommended so it hurts the wallet too. I had the AWD model which takes up enough space underneath that the gas tank had to be shrunk to a puny 10.8 gallons. With the retched milage this car gets I can assure you that you will be filling up frequently. Performance: (The fun part!) All alone in the cramped drivers seat, this car is SO much fun to drive! In the snow, it's like riding a snowmobile! Nissan pushed the wheels all the way out to the corners and with the added AWD system, this thing is glued to the road. High speed turns are no match for this car and it will stop on a dime. That said, it is technically some sort of SUV and does have some ground clearance, which you do not necessarily notice in the turns but accelerating form a stop and braking give a bit or "rocking" back and fourth. Unfortunately I was only left the automatic transmission option from my dealers stock, and I will never forgive myself for not waiting for a manual. The Puredrive automatic provided by Nissan takes some getting use to. It feels much like the CVT transmission in the Subaru Impreza and personally, I don't like it. In sport shift mode you realize just how useless first and second gear are in this car. Turbo lag if painfully apparent as well. Hit the gas and it takes a full second before the engine responds, which can be a bit frightening when you are trying to pull out into fast traffic. I have heard that this is not such a problem with the manual transmission so I will will say in closing that the performance in this car is outstanding...probably...if you get the manual transmission. Quality: Oh dear, oh dear. My first new car was a 2000 Nissan Maxima. A solid, big 4-door vehicle with a frighteningly fast 3.0 V6 and weirdly good looks. I still see them on the road all the time and will argue it was one of the best quality cars I've ever owned. The Juke however has quite a few problem areas. Inside: The first thing you may notice is the material used for the floor liner. It feels like that felt fabric you get when buying a children's costume at Walmart, very thin, not at all carpet like and absolutely guaranteed to wear through quickly. The plastics used for the dash and center console have Fisher-Price tap to them. The seat fabric (non-leather model) feels just slightly better, a well padded "huggy" feeling is comfortable but the lower left side of the seat back began to show signs that it will indeed wear through sooner than you would probably expect. Sometimes while switching to the defrost setting with the fan on high speed, some sort of flap within the system seemed to get stuck and would rapidly and loudly flap back and fourth between settings which took repeated and rapid turns of the knob to relive. Outside: I bought the S model with the Midnight package. The 17inch black alloy wheels look and handle fantastic. The body feels thin and flimsy, which is common for more recent models these days. The clear coat is thin and easily swirl marked from washing. All in all not bad. 8 out of 10. The REALLY bad part: This car has one massive flaw if you live in an area with snow. The windshield wipers, while not wiping, retreat below the hood line. This means you cannot lift the wipers to clean ice/snow out from under. I bought this car in the summer and did not notice this problem until the first snowfall.

I'm very happy with my Juke. Yes, it's small and has limited cargo space. Well, I wanted a small car and the cargo space for what I haul has never been too small. The performance is fine. My mileage is lower than some report, but I don't drive for economy. Yes, the road-handling is very good for this type of vehicle. Sold Juke, now own a Hyundai Kona that I like and is more modern

I wanted to love this car so bad

I bought my Juke used about 8 months ago and was incredibly excited. I loved its unique look and after reading up on it, it seemed to be a pretty reliable car all around. Boy was I disappointed 8 months later. 1st major issue, not even 2 weeks after driving it off the lot it started stalling- turned out to be a radiator issue. No big deal, the dealership was helpful in getting it taken care of and it continued to drive fine afterwards. Now after fixing the radiator I noticed a slight rattle on the highway. I didn't think much of it but it continued to worsen for a good few months before I decided I needed to get it checked out- turns out the axles had rapidly deteriorated and needed to be replaced. A hefty $1000 replacement later, its driving smoothly again. Not even a month later the service engine light comes on. I had the code read this morning and it turns out there is some problem that could range from as simple as a loose wire to a transmission issue that I won't be able to get checked out until Monday (It's new years eve as I write this). Again, I so wanted to love this car. I'm not sure if I just bought a dud or if the Juke is just not made to withstand my frequency of driving. My recommendation: buy at your own risk. It's a cute car, without a doubt, but if you drive frequently, you might just find yourself making monthly payments via maintenance even if you paid in cash.

2013 Juke full of sludge/metal in oil pan

Lisa Darrow, 09/18/2015

Took 2013 Juke, purchased new, with 42,000 miles to Courtesy Nissan in Richardson, TX in September 2015 because the engine light came on and experienced diminished performance. The dealership examined the car and reported the oil pan was full of sludge and metal. Upon initial findings the dealership claimed the factory warranty and extended warranty were in effect. Later the dealership wanted a signed statement that I would cover costs of the engine tear down ($3,000 ) if further examination determined that a factory defect not was the cause of the sludge build up. I would then need to replace the engine at a cost of $12,000 plus. The dealership did not report of an sludge or metal when I had the oil changed 5 months earlier. The car has been maintained with regular oil changes. No sensor alerted me of a low oil condition until the engine light came on in September. It is disappointing that a 2 year old car with only 42,000 miles doesn't live up to the Nissan reputation. Thought I was purchasing a quality car.

The design got my attention right at the first time. specs are impressive real value for a sporty yet powerful small suv/crossover. i liked it in all ways. great new look, great horsepower, great gas mileage and low price what else can i bargain. Power always matters in a city environment when you are trying to merge into the road after getting out of a supermarket/mall , while hesitating at a color changing signal light :). Not every one like its looks but i feel being unique is always something which matters.

Love my Juke for its pep and maneuverability. The turbo has great pick up and the traction is great for a small car in the snow. If I had to improve on anything it would be the lack of s center console for storage and the climate control. Always too hot or cold and the defroster is not the greatest. Overall, it's a fun ride!

CVT transmissions are terrible / stay away

The CVT transmissions are the worst things that Nissan has ever done. I have had changed at dealership at under 100,00o miles due to what I was told overheating and lack of horse power was due to CVT wearing out. It fixed the problem but after 30,000 miles is doing same thing and it costs almost $300.00 to flush CVT again. Contacted Nissan only response was a list of information they wanted with nothing to do about my vehicle and to return AGAIN to dealership .

We have only owned the vehicle for a month, but so far I like it better than the brand new Ford we purchased. Nissan definitely knows how to build a solid vehicle. Other than rear wheel well road noise, it is hands down a much better vehicle than the Escape. I purchased the Juke for my daughters first car. If it works as well as it has been even with high miles on it, I will be getting rid of the Ford and purchasing another Juke.

I live in suburb of Wash, D.C. Work in downtown D.C., shop in suburban shopping centers. Due to size of car, maneuverability, visibility, I regularly can fit into parking spaces other cars can't(on D.C. streets) and can get in and out of spaces and lanes in suburban lots while others with larger vehicles are backing up and moving forward, over & over, to get out of space, blocking entire lane entire time. Have likely saved hundreds of dollars in parking lot fees in downtown DC. because find parking at the curb for far less(or nothing at all). I now have 37K on odometer. Thus far - have never had to take car in for other than routine maintenance, tires, replace brakes, etc. & a couple recalls. Obviously lucky, but have never owned car that went more than a year without requiring service because something went wrong. Must note quality of basic components is very good(e.g. AC system is excellent). Stock radio was 2d rate, so replaced that. Also, dome light only in front of car- none in middle or back of ceiling so added one myself(battery powered, motion detector). Otherwise, back seat, in charcoal, too dark to reflect light when putting things in, getting them out. Nissan should add some color to interior, via subtle striping, decals, whatever. The black plastic & charcoal seating present little variety and gets boring quick. The only major criticism is dash light - it is a push button with something like 8 settings. 1st is bright, too bright at night., 2d setting dims a lot & 3-8 dim even more.. But turn on headlights in grayish weather, daylight, and 2d setting on too dim to illuminate dash(speedometer, tach, etc). Its nuts, because so easy to install better adjustments. Should have a dial. One is stuck with having to switch to 1st setting in gray weather, by pushing button 8 times or so to cycle thru settings, and then at night pushing that to dimmer setting, because dash too bright.

I have always loved the look of the Nissan Juke. I just bought a used fully equipped 2013 AWD SL a bit over a year ago, unfortunately the Juke was discontinued as of 2017 or 2018. I am so very happy with my car. It is fun to drive, I love the exterior style as well as the interior- leather/heated seats, GPS, the way the car drives, the setup of the dashboard and steering wheel, nice sunroof, etc.. My only problem with the car is lack of room in trunk space As a person who has always had little sports cars, I never expected this to become a problem as it holds groceries as such just fine, the slant of the rear window makes it hard to fit 2, 24packs of water bottles and a overnight bag. Now to give an update * January 2021. My turbo had to be fixed. About $4,000. My car still sounds like there is a transmission problem. I pray that I'm wrong. I currently have about 47,532 miles on it. I don't know if it us with putting another $4,000 for a transmission. U can't afford another car. I never liked Nissan. The Juke was the only Nissan I've ever liked. If I need a new car, I will stick with Toyota or Honda. They have a much better reputation. Sadly the only car I can afford would probably be a Kia or Hyundai. I am heartbroken.

So frustrated right now. My Juke's turbo went out in warranty! Dealership wants all my service records. We call Nissan USA and start a case, they ask us why they are asking for these records. Told that we will know something by the end of the day Monday. Get a call at 4:30 telling us no, now it will be Friday. GRRRRR! This will be over a week that since the car went in. My plan was to trade in this car and get a new Nissan as soon as it was fixed but now I am not sure. I have really liked my car but certainly am not enjoying this problem getting dragged out like this.

I saw a Juke on the highway once. I immediately loved how different it looked and made a mental note to myself, if I was ever going to buy a new car, look into the Juke! The time came and I just had to test drive one... I was Sold! It really did exceed my expectations. From the push start, the tight handling, acceleration, comfort... this vehicle has all I need and want!

They do not make this car any more. This model from Nissan is not worth the price they are asking. Oil issues, sensors would go out, but the car was ok. The engine goes out after 5 years. The fan that operates the A.C. and heat went out at 4 years. Other small issues that are a bother some.

Transmission went out in less than 30 days

My daughter purchased her first car from here while home from college this past summer. Within 30 days, on her way back to school she was having car trouble. By the time she arrived back at school, we had a diagnostic done on the car and her transmission needed to be replaced. My husband and I went to Capital Hyundai and spoke with Rob Needham and was told there was nothing they could do because she purchased it as is. We are so upset with Capital Hyundai because this is the 2nd car purchased from there that has had issues. NEVER AGAIN!!! I feel they knew something was wrong with that car when she purchased it and said nothing. Absolutely the worst thing to do to a college student. Now we are paying a car payment for a car that will not move until we get money to replace the transmission.

A manual Juke is a blast to drive. The clutch, shift linkage and synchos are top notch, and give a sport car feel to the vehicle. It handles well ( moderate lean on aggressive cornering) for a CUV, and the steering is quite quick and precise.Brakes have a good feel as well. There is little cargo area, with the seat up, but when I need to haul something, the seat quickly folds and it is adeqaute for normal Home Depot and Costco runs. If you want to tote a 4X8 sheet of plywood or an XMAS tree, get a truck.I wanted a sporty driving vehicle, with a little cargo capability (our BMW Convertible is no help there), so the little Juke is perfect. No CVT for me, it would spoil the Juke's character.

Bought my Juke 2nd hand and the sellers were lovely. I got new winter studded tires for it and it lasted me through one winter (~6 months) and then the engine died on me (apparently one of the lifters failed). The AWD was nice, and it felt very secure on winter roads but the air conditioner made a high-pitch squeal. Now its gonna cost ~10k to get a new engine when the car along I got for ~9K. Not happy.

I bought my used 2014 Juke in 2021. It had a decent number of miles for the year (83,000) and was very clean and rust-free. I needed something small-ish with AWD for winter driving. Always loved the look of the Juke. This one was priced right and was a bright, eye-catching red, with black accents on the spoiler and mirrors. Very sharp. I have been extremely pleased with it. In my four-plus years of ownership I've put about 20,000 miles on it and it hasn't let me down. Has passed my state's stringent annual safety and emissions inspections every time, needing only brakes and to have a minor exhaust leak fixed. I absolutely love driving it. It is very fast, responsive, and very fun to drive. Two downsides: -Cargo space is unbelievably limited. The hatch area barely holds a couple of bags of groceries. When it comes to something bigger, like a suitcase, forget it. The back seats fold down, of course, and I rarely have a back-seat passenger, so there is a workaround for bigger loads. -Gas mileage is lower than I was expecting. In a mix of highway and city driving, I'm lucky if I can hit 25 mpg. This car replaced my 2007 AWD Dodge Caliber (dead of rust at 198,000 miles) and the Caliber regularly bested that mark, so I was surprised. After all, both have AWD CVT, so why the difference? Maybe because the Juke is a turbo? I can live with both of these as minor inconveniences for a car that I so thoroughly enjoy in every other way. One other minor quibble is the placement of the windshield wipers. I got the AWD model specifically for winter driving, and the wipers get "stored" under the hood when they're in the off position. This means that they can't be lifted off of the glass for overnight outside parking. When snow and ice fill the windshield, the wipers get frozen into place on the windshield. Again, a minor inconvenience, but if you get a whole lot of snow in the winter and have to park outside, it is a consideration. So, overall, I love the looks and performance of the car. The things that I don't love are minor at best, and easily overlooked. A solid four stars.

It is really a great car for what it is. Obviously it's small, so not a lot of cargo space. But that's not a complaint; just a reality for the class. Nonetheless, I can fit my mountain bike and camping gear snugly in the back with the seats down. I have the 2014 Nismo version with the 1.6L turbo. It is zippy in the sport mode and very fun to drive, especially with the 6 speed manual. It is pretty quiet on the highway and gets 32 mpg if I keep highway speed to <75 mph.

WORST Vehicle I Have Ever Owned

They suck you in to buy it because of the look and color options, but in reality it is the most unsafe, unreliable money pit vehicle I've ever owned! The entire vehicle is like a cheap combination of plastic and thin, thin metal. I had to replace the tires before I even had 15000 miles on it just so I could pass state inspection. The windows are so cheap that when I got a very small rock chip, I parked it in the garage so that the next day my insurance could fill it so it didn't spider, but the next day when I opened the garage I was shocked at how it had completely spidered over the entire windshield, and it was only 30 degrees outside and my "Joke" was parked in the garage, so needless to say I had to get a new windshield! The gas mileage is so bad, I can fill up and never even get more than 260 miles on a tank of gas. The list goes on by a lot, but I'm just trying to warn others not to get sucked into buying this vehicle because of the color options!! Just beware!

It has sporty aspirations despite its ~180 turbo 4 banger and CVT. Comfortable for two people to take a road trip with their luggage, the back seats don’t fit anyone taller than 6’. Good value and reliability for the price. If I did it all over again I would still buy the car, but there are better choices if you can spare an extra $5-$10 grand.
