Great Sports Car

This is a great handling car. The motor is truly underpowered - but fun to drive. I've had it for 3 years and not one problem. I truly recommend a 240 if you are looking for a reliable fun to drive car.

i had the opportunity to purchase one of these amazing cars right after high school and it's been the best first car if you're into cars. it handles great stock but put a new suspension under it and you will keep up with or beat most cars in the corners, provided you know what you're doing. the torque is more than most 4 cyl can dream of, and it has a nice powerband up to 5500. though a set of cams can fix this rather nicely. all in all i love my 240 and though i have tried to sell her 4 times i just can never do it. its a great car and im saddened that people didnt buy more of them when they were new so nissan would have kept building them.

I've had my car for a little over 4 years now and and I love it. It's far from stock form now though with the Japanese SR20det motor with 14 lbs of boost and doing about 300 hp at the wheels and lowered 2". I've replaced the hood, trunk, mirrors and other parts with carbon fiber pieces to lighten it up and everywhere I go in it, I get people checking it out and loving it.

I searched for over a year in 2001 trying to track down one of these in my area. I knew I wanted a rare car and something with style and the 240sx was exactly that. I've had mine for 7 years with no major issues, just some regular maintenance. This is definitely a reliable car and if and when the time comes to get a new car I can only assume that other vehicles will fall far below the expectations and reliability that my 240 has given me. It's like I'm talking about a friend but truly.. this car really is, because its never let me down.

I love this car my mom bought it in 96 and I took it over 03. This car is the best car you could ever have. It has 155k on it and I am just now having to do repairs on it. Everyone know me by my little red car and I get lots of stares when I drive it. This car is so much fun to drive and handles great. I do agree with everyone saying be careful when rains you have to know how to handle it.

With a set of snow tires it is excellent in up to a foot of snow. If you are over 6 feet tall you may have to lean the seat back a bit to drive but no matter your height, this car will reward you with years and years of trouble free performance driving. I bought my 1996 240sx SE with 20K on the odometer and have put over 60K on it to date. Maintenance is very very very low on this vehicle! There is NO timing belt to break and destroy your engine either. Nissan uses a chain. My fuel economy over the years: lowest 25 mpg, Highest was 35 mpg. Specs: 5-speed SE, California emissions. I have smoked the tires and redlined it for years regularly without an issue. It's a rare gem.

I had no idea that cars could drive this well. The car responds as if it steers by reading your mind. The interior leather is quality and the rest is executed flawlessly, with even seams and perfect alignments. The gages are just plain fun, white face and lit numerals on overlapping eliptical dials. From 2500 to 4500 rpm, this machine deliverspleasure. Rough roads produce noise, but the car is so nice on fresh pavement. I've driven Porsche 928's, and I would choose this car first to drive (really). If you want a car where you can use the rear seat, you better buy a more boring car.Test drive before a Honda or an Mazda MX6.

The S14 240SX ('95-'98) is a beautiful car. I have loved every minute I've driven in my car. It handles awesome!! It only has 155hp, though. Nissan really needed to put a V6 in this car.

The 96 240sxse is a wonderful car for what it is. Its has 4 wheel independent supension, 4 wheel disc, and enough torque to get you movin. It handles great and is exciting to drive if you know how too. This car would be would have become an icon in the import community if it had just been delivered to the U.S. with its Japanesse counterpart engine, the sr20det.

I have purchased this car for 4 months. And I think it was a good choice. It works very well on each mile. I feel comfortable and funny when driving it. I like its charming. At the first time, I thought it was a sport ca for girls. Gradually, I feel it was really a nice and charming one. I love it's exterior.

Great car, motor went at 155K but other than that It seems like a well made car. It would have been nice if Nissan continued the 240sx/silvia line past 99' with the S15, and had made the S15 Silvia available in the US.

It's an awsome car. Great handling on sharp turns. Kind of scary starting off fast on wet roads, car starts to drift (scary yet fun) Had the car for almost 2 years now. So far, no problems, and is in great running condition. 240 parts, although, are hard to find and are expensive. But other than that, great looking exterior and interior. Awsome vehicle!!

This car was purchased new in 1996 and was a special edition with Purple paint from Nissan. It has every option available and all still work flawlessly. So far, it has 131,000 miles and has had no major service whatsoever. Reliability is an A++++ The best thing about this car is its personality. Everywhere I go I get asked questions about it. I would recommend this car to anyone as it is very fun to drive, handles better than a Corvette (long story), and will surprise you with the power it has for a 4cyl. As with any Nissan - it is a beautiful piece of engineering.

I love my 240, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Many of my friends have sport compacts and the 240 is by far the best. With a little bit of investment in suspension and performace upgrades you would die for your car. It performs well in the turns but for drag the stock KA24DE engine is strong and great for upgrades. The car is very sought after and you don't see 240's very often so people oh and ah at you.

I purchased my base model in 1996 Brand new. I added a custom sun roof,Stero radio,cd,cassette player. Gold stripe on the exterior and mud flaps. Air condition. I receive many compliments, as my car is black with the fine gold stripe. Great milage and no problem traveling in any weather.I am 65 yrs old, purchased when I was still working at age 57. It's in great shape and I love it. This is my third Nissan. Maybe this model will return.

I have had this car for over 3 years. I have loved it ever since and it's great to drive. The car performs beautifully, it's great to drive especially on a nice twisting road. The interior is nice and the 5-speed transmission works great. I have had no major problems with it and have 150,000 miles on it!

My previous car was a 1992 Honda Prelude Si, which is a pretty good competitor for this car. The dash is simple and not overstyled (some people may dislike that), the engine it torquey and extremely reliable. The brakes are dissapointing, but they were on the Prelude as well. The engine sound is decent and I love the exhaust sound. Overall build quality is right on par with the Prelude. I autocrossed both cars and the 240SX in addition to being faster in my experience, is a lot more fun to drive. Not only is the car RWD, but it seems to suffer from chronic oversteer - it's great fun! It's an awesome touring coupe.

I've owned an Integra GSR, and a Prelude SH. Both pale in comparison to the 240SX. The 240SX is hands down the most fun to drive of the three. Rear wheel drive and extremely crisp steering combine yielding an extremely fun, agile and responsive handling set-up. The car's my daily- driven race car.

Excellent Choice in Cars Pros: -Stylish, reliable, fun to drive, handling, no back seat Cons: -Could be faster, uncomfortable on long trips, no back seat -------------------- Overall, I couldn't be happier with my 240! Extremely dependable. I've 135k miles and only problems are the front main seal and valve cover leaks, and the power steering leaks. I love the leather, white face gauges and sunroof. This car gets an average of 25-33 mpg. If you've never driven a rear wheel drive vehicle, you're missing out! THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE CUPHOLDERS!

Ride is a little rough and loud, but it is somewhat of a sports car. The 2.5 Ltr. engine is adaquate at best. Nissan needed to offer other engines as an option. Handling is very good. This is a fun car to drive. It has the looks and reliability factor going for it. Go ahead and get one if you can. Look for a motor out of the Japanese version and drop it in. Then this would be a wonderful sports car.

After several months I decided I know the car well enough to review. I bought the car over 300 miles away, when I say the couple hour trip back was comfortable, I mean it. With this car you do feel the bumps, there is more road feel. This is a sports car, not a luxery car. It's a lot lower than the Pathfinder, and not as smooth over bumps, but definetly more fun, and longer trips feel shorter. It's quick, and there's lots of torque with this motor. Nothing beats the fun of RWD, as for handling, let's just say it's skidpad is equivalent to the 97 BMW M3. A mildly modified SR motor can run mid 13s, that Porsche Carrera, Corvette territory!

Buying a 97 the factory tires had been replaced so me opting for better ones would not really be any suggestion. But when you do put performance tires on this car it handels like it is on rails. If you think the ride is to harsh you are to old and should drive a dangerous, wasteful SUV!

No problems whatsoever after 2 yrs. Exterior styling is great; I get many compliments. The car is rare. Love the rear wheel drive. Handling/cornering is perfect. Interior is cheap (common complaint with Nissan cars). With 47k miles on it, and I'm starting to hear some rattles from the dashboard area. Stock steering wheel in the SE is to thin. A thicker, leather-wrapped wheel would be a huge improvement. (My '91 SE with every option was a better car.) The backseat is basically useless. The 155 hp not enough, but it still feels peppy. A lot of fun to drive. Gets a lot of attention. I definitely recommend it.
