I like this car but performance is deceving

the car literally resists acceleration with a lot of noise. I hate it. When I had my Honda, you didn't hear a thing. It was smooth and was actually putting my passengers to sleep, it was so smooth. This SUV is not smooth. I have the AWD Outlander Sport.

2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT

I test drove several Mitsubishi cars and liked the way the car felt. After driving the car for a week I was able to find a number of short comings. The automatic transmission is unresponsive, traction control never engages in slippery conditions, loud road noise, and the car itself feels unrefined. V6 engine has 224 hp at 6250 rpm, but power to weight ratio is 0.045 hp/lb. The car is a bit too heavy at 5005 pounds. My previous car was lighter at 4001 pounds and you can feel the difference. This is my first Mitsubishi car, but I have been looking at them for 15 years. A number of my friends owned Mitsubishi cars and were happy with them.

The only problem is the the AC .The first year it worked fine . The second year we had it ,it went out . they did fix after they told use they didn't have to .Third year out again they wanted us to pay them over a 100 dollars to find the problem .I told them i don't think so we shouldn't have a car for 3 summers and have the AC two of the three summer .and for the most part they told me i was SOL. My reply back thats BS.

I bought this car in 2019 with 37k miles. Here’s what I loved: Features for the price, especially the Rockford Fosgate sound system. Size of the vehicle. 3rd row seats (though they only work in a pinch, no one can sit back there for long trips as it’s very cramped). Here’s the OK aspects: Gas mileage (there’s better out there, but I’ve also had worse). The car is very sluggish, but on the highway I throw it in “sport mode” and while still slow, it gets the job done. Now the bad (owned for 2.5 years at this point, 50,500 on the odometer: It’s the most unreliable vehicle I’ve ever had and that includes a 2010 Dodge with 100k miles. At 40k miles, my battery was hesitating a little upon starting, before completely dying on me during a snow storm. Had the battery replaced. Less than a year later, it begins to hesitate upon starting again. Mechanic said for some reason, the battery isn’t fully charging, which is why the last one ended up needing to be replaced. Before getting to the bottom of that problem, it failed yearly inspection for the exhaust being rusted out. I’ve driven, maintained and stored this vehicle like all my others. This is the only one that rusted, and the exhaust/muffler was the ONLY thing rusted. Apparently it’s just garbage material they used. It was $600+ for the replacement alone, not including installation. My mechanic admitted Mitsubishi’s are extremely expensive to repair. Within the last 6 months I’ve noticed a creaking noise coming from somewhere underneath the vehicle when going over uneven surfaces like my gravel driveway. Between the battery and the exhaust nonsense, I was finally just about to have the mechanic look into that, when… As of last week my check engine light kicked on. Reading said it’s the Oxygen Sensor, mechanic says we could replace the cheaper of the two sensors first (still $400 after labor) and hope it’s just a faulty sensor. They said something else could be wrong with the car that’s setting those sensors off though, and that’s when we’re talking $$$$$$$ to fix. At this point, I’m just ditching this hunk of garbage and will never purchase another Mitsubishi again.

Never should have bought this car. Have had people in Prius' and Smart Cars pass me from a stand still. Worst/Slowest acceleration EVER!!! I would hope that with such slow and strained get up that I would at least get good gas mileage but that was terrible as well. Right now I'm getting about 20 miles to the gallon. Some pro are: Interior, Seats, Technology and exterior is nice. But do not but for the 7 seats unless you have two children or "little people" riding back there. And once you put up the third row there is NO and I mean NO truck space. I have a car seat in the second row. Have to keep third row folded down just to fit in average size stroller. Will not be buying this again *Update- have since traded it in for something else. Simply put, unless you want an inferior suv that has no guts and does poorly on gas mileage, this is NOT the vehicle for you.

Outlander GT V6 is the best car I've ever owned

I've driven Hondas, Fords, Toyotas, & Hyundais but I have never loved a car like I love this one. I got one with just over 100k for a steal after negotiating it down do to a broken mirror and fog light & after some DYI, it like brand new minus some small paint chips and has gotten me 2000 miles already with zero issues. I can't believe it has this many miles, even though the previous owner did a great job taking care of it, because it seriously drives & operates flawlessly. This was my first Mitsubishi & it's definitely not going to be my last
