Used 1995 Mitsubishi Montero LS 4dr SUV 4WD Consumer Reviews
I'll keep it until it stops running!
I bought my Montero used. It had one owner prior to myself and that was a lease vehicle. I have burned the highway completely up in this vehicle hauling my sons to every soccer tournament imaginable up and down the east coast. I love this vehicle. The only drawback to owning this vehicle is the high cost for insurance and maintenance. Repairs to a Monty are expensive mainly due to the high cost for parts and the design features which make repairs labor intensive. All in all, I will drive this vehicle until it won't drive anymore because I love it that much.
Utility as well Fun to drive
The best SUV I drive among Explorer, Troper, Blazer, 4 Runner, Pathfinder and many more in this class.

Best car I've ever owned
I bought this truck when it was one year old with 20,000 miles on it from Enterprise Car Sales. In the 9 years I have had it, it has proven to be the most reliable car I have ever owned (better than a Toyota, Honda, and Acura). Only minor problems. You expect to replace some of the accessories (belts, pullies, alternator, ets) eventually. I now have 275,000 miles on it, and still my daily drive to work car and weekend have fun in car. I am now getting concerned about the high mileage, and am looking to buy another Montero, probably a slightly newer SR with low mileage. This truck is smaller on the outside (except for height) and gets better gas mileage than my wife's Acura Legend.
True Off Road SUV
I have been extremely happy with this vehicle. I purchased it with 52,000 miles. It now has 208,000 miles. In that time, aside from regular maintenance, I have spent rougly $450.00. I have had no mechanical or electrical problems. I have yet to replace a fuse. I have used it heavily off road in the coal mines and back woods of the south. It has gotten me out of situations that I was convinced were impossible to escape. This model is truly one of the last great SUVs. It has classic styling and a very functional interior. It does ride rough but it is a truck and that functionality and durability is what I wanted when I purchased it.
So far so good
So far it's OK. I love the ride, it's not too shabby. It seems to run well, it has 106,000 miles on it, but I haven't had it long so I have my fingers crossed. In the past I have had great luck with Mazda and Nissan and am hoping for the same with this. I once had a Jeep Cherokee, much to my dismay. I am really enjoying my Montero's tall feel and head space. The pickup is slow, but it gets there. I like the upright firm seating, the moonroof / slider, compass, 3rd seat and the looks.
