It's finally time to sell
I bought this car with 104K on it back in 01. Had it ever since. I now have 225K and it is finally time to get rid of it. The last 20K have had some problems with it, but what car wouldn't at that many miles. Paint has chipped off and some rusting around the wheel wells. Did most repairs myself. Good car for the price I paid. Drove it into the ground but it still gets 25mpg.
Big style, little substance.
I bought my 1996 Mitsubishi Galant as a college car. It had 83,400 miles on it when bought, now it is at 90,850 miles. I love the styling, inside and out. I love that it's easy to work on. I just love this car. I've done a great deal of work on it, and have mostly gotten it all working again. The engine is really smooth for a 4-cyl. with the A/C off, the interior has held up really well, all the problems the car had when I got it have been relatively easy to fix. It's a shame the parts are so expensive and the major components (engine, transmission) are so finicky about care and proper maintainence. I can provide great care to this car, and have. The previous owners didn't. It's a shame really. I plan to keep it for a long time! This is an awesome car!
Money Pit
I bought the car used at 82000 miles The car is just plain out horrible mechanicly, aesthitically its decent for its year but under the hood its just a huge money pit at 85000 miles it needed a new trans $2,500 to replace (for the auto's) and at 94000 miles my timing belt went has caused over another $2000 worth of damage total this is more than i paid for the car. A long with the recalls and other problems with this car its just an outright horrible buy.
Unbeatable Value
I bought a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant S in 2000 with 79,000. I beat the hell out of it but it kept going. This was my pizza delivery car. I put 240,000 city miles on the original engine until it burnt so much oil I got pulled over by a cop because he though my car was on fire. (Cold starts in winter would look like smoke bombs going off.) I recommend this car with the manual transmission if you can find one in decent shape. Despite my criticisms, this car is a really cool car.
Good Car to Own
I bought this car used (it was an off- lease vehicle) several years ago. I have not had any problems (except the typical maintainance) with it, except for a recall notice on my gas tank. It rides fairly smooth. It does burn about 1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles or so.
