Used 1999 Mercury Villager Consumer Reviews
great family car but after 10 years swap
I have loved my Villager ever since we got it used ( with 17000) miles on it back in 2001. But this year has been a nightmare. It has 89000 miles on it now. Everything has gone wrong & we have dumped over $5000.00 in it over the last 8 months ( towed 4 times) and thinking that "hopefully this will be the last repair". My advise...when any car first produces a $1500. repair bill...sell it & get something else because chances are it will be the beginning of a long line of repair bills. can't afford it anymore but can't afford anything else either-ha !
Great Driving
The van has been an exceptionally great vehicle. Just before the warranty expired we had to replace both headlight harnesses because of electrical faults. The radio & clock display just failed as well as most of the instrument lights on the ETC air conditioner control. The bulbs for the A/c control are not available at the dealer. The radio display has not been repaired because of the great cost.

Perfect vehicle for imperfect families
A handsome package, flexible, capable and about the only "mini" van that can comfortably carry SIX passengers in comfort up&down I-5 without a mutiny.
Not a bad van
Not a bad liitle van. Must say that I do not care for American vehicles and only bought this van because I needed one, this was the only van available in my price range. Haven't looked back since. Couple of trips across the US, plus the half-dozen to grandma's house. Wish there was a little bit more cargo space, but moving the rear seat up one-notch does the trick.
A good 2nd car
Bought at 90,000 miles and drove for 4 years. Pretty good experience overall, although we did get the clogged carb/sticky throttle problem that some have complained about. A simple $40 fix at our local mechanic. Removable pilot seats were great, as was the 6 disc CD player. The fuel economy was not great, at about 17- 18. Have sold it due to age and impending repair bills being more than the TMV.
