Very Reliable And Fun Little Wagon
Driving and owning this car was a delight. Sadly, after only 18 months of owning it, the reliability proved me wrong. The motor started to load up really bad after I used the a/c (would using the a/c take away engine power?)and it just died on me on the side of the road!! I loved my little wagon and so did my family. Problem was dropped valve and a cracked piston! My mechanic said it just wasn't worth fixing, so now it sits in a junkyard. They say the trannys have problems at around 80-90K miles. Mine hit 170,000 and no tranny issues at all! Some are good, some not. Purchasing another one come tax time! Besides the problem I had, I would very much recommend these inexpensive cars.
Great Car
I bought this car new and now after 10 years it has 90k. Car was in storage for 4 years and all I had to do was replace the battery. I have had no major problems with the car. I drive it a minimum of 50 miles a day. I had one minor one that the accelerator was sticking and Ford fixed it easily. This car is very reliable. I live in cold country and it has always been reliable. Fun to drive! I would definitely recommend this vehicle!
My Tracer
I purchased my tracer in 1997, and had problems with it almost immediately. The biggest problem I've had was with the transmission. I had to have it replaced, which ended up being very expensive even though my Dad was able to do most of the work himself. I wouldn't recommend this car to a friend.
