Still A Fun Ride
3 years ago I bought a blue 1992 XR2, just like the picture. It was really about the mileage since our other cars were 2 Ford Expeditions which only got 9 mpg on a good day. Well what a surprise that little car turned out to be. Although it had 78,000 miles on the odometer, it still started and ran like a top. The 5 speed tranny is still tight and the acceleration after driving that land barge was nothing short of breathtaking. I swapped out the old 15" wheels for some new "A.R" 16" wheels and put on some 225X 60 series tires and what a difference. The thing just hugs the road in a bear grip and will not let go even though I really push it.I found a hard top and its all set.
Original owner loves this car !!!!
Amazing - I bought this car in '91 - that makes it 14 years old! Repairs? None! I changed the oil every 3,000 miles, and that was it. This car is so much fun to drive. I drove it through Bryce Canyon with the top down for an unforgetable experience. Too bad they don't make them anymore. I would buy it again.
Fun, Fun, FUN!!!
I have had the pleasure of having a rare in My life. That would be the "Special" '93 Capri that I have dubbed a Sheep in Wolfs clothing. '93 was the year Mercury decided a good idea would be dress a base like Turbo and see if anybody noticed, As a pure Fun ride this car is ahead of it's time. If it were to be released today it think it would be neck and neck with it's rear wheel drive cousin The Mazda MX-5. Performance is great!!! The results of neglect were easily corrected with standard and available parts. The A/c still works and was part of the XR@ upgrade as was the working, at 20mph cruise control. Mileage has been between 18 and 24 MPH depending on type. Do I recomend this??? Oh YEAH!
Glen's Review
This is a nice car in perfect condition. I replaced the top as well as the seats recently, and installed a $350 XM radio allong with new speakers.
