I always read tons of consumer reviews on vehicles and I bought my 2003 E55 AMG as my 40th Birthday present!!! I have owned about 20 different vehicles in 25 years and this one by far wins in every single category except gas savings, but with 469hp stock you are not buying a gas saver. Not one person, unless they know Mercedes will ever guess this is a 2003! I bought mine for about $16k used with 95k on it. I am cheap with what I spend on my used cars but this was a mid life treat so I splurged. I justified it because it comfortably will fit 4 adults and is technically a sedan, but with the 469hp AMG this sedan is Amazing if you get on it!!! There are only a few stock vehicles out there that will have more hp than this. Style on the exterior and interior is incredible, and handling makes you feel like you could be a professional race car driver. I mostly just cruise in this and use it as a date night vehicle, but every now and then I drive it like an AMG should be driven. I would recommend not letting it just sit in garage for too long. I use it 1-3 times per week with at least getting it out of garage once per week. In 2 years and 10k miles I have had no issues. The regular recommended maintenance is expensive for these cars so still not sure how I will deal with maintenance, but if you take care of these they should last for a long time. I heard about one with 250k or more in Eurpore that still performed exactly like you would expect an AMG to perform even with the high mileage!!! If you are looking for a used luxury sedan and sports car all in one, this is a model you will love! Besides the engine my favorite features are the suede headliner and the two roof mood lights that glow in the evening while driving.
