Purchased March '05. My wife's uncle had owned it since new and he was selling while I was looking to replace my daily driver. I've never owned a Mercedes, I don't consider myself a Mercedes person, I'm actually a sports car guy. The car has not dissapointed me. It is very slow getting going from a stop, solid build quality, quiet, simple yet comfortable inside, nice leather and sound system. Did I say slow. Once you're up to highway speeds, the car accelerates and handles much better. It is actually fairly easy to do maintenance on and has been very reliable so far. I just went over 115K and, I'm told, she still has another 200K left! They are solid, feels like you're driving a tank at times.

My 1989 300E has 210k miles on it, but you'd never know unless you looked at the odometer. I've put about 45k miles on this vehicle and while there have been minor repairs and tire changes, it has been a great vehicle. The ride is closer to a BMW than other MB vehicles. It is a comfortable highway cruiser, but isn't afraid to take on the curves now and then. The seats are very comfortable and the trunk has quite a bit of room. I would say the back seat is designed more for 2 adults and legroom can be a little tight if front seats are back all the way. Overall, a very solid vehicle that is comfortable and provide a nice mix of performance.

Love my 300E

I love my 1990 300E, my first Mercedes, which I've owned for just over 2 years. I purchased it with 60k miles, and I've added about 8k miles/ year. I love the way the car feels bigger and heavier than it appears. First time passengers are amazed that my 300E is 12 years old because it's in such good shape. Maintenance and repairs can be expensive. I always say, you get what you pay for, and with a high quality luxury car, you're going to pay a bit more for the repairs and general maintenance. Overall, though, I am very happy with the car and I look forward to many more years of happy driving.

Parents bought the car new, and it was given to me when I got my permit ten years ago. Rarely gives trouble. If you don't know how to drive it, it can be slow, but hit the top of the accelerator and the car will throw you back in your seat. Best car to get into a wreck in. A TrailBlazer hit me and did a number on the Chevy while leaving me with a scratch. I like this car so much I bought another one, if that tells you anything. The gas mileage is good. I get about 18 in the city w/ A/C on full blast. While I've owned this car, I've owned an AUDI, VW, two BMW's (very needy cars!), and an Infiniti. None, not even the Infiniti, held up like the MB. These cars are built like tanks that last forever.

Old but a classic

Have a '88 model - I am at the least the 4th owner. Considering that the car has 175,000 miles on it I think that this is one of the best cars I have ever owned (out of Mitsubishi, GMC, Toyota, Crysler, VW, Nissan) It runs every day without any hesitation. For sure it has a few small issues but with it's advanced age it is to be expected, Had engine seals redone recently to pass inspection, replaced injectors (less than an hour) and minor maintenance like fuel filter, plugs. I had never fancied a MB but seeing that I was temporary where I am, wasn't going into debt for a car, paid $2000 and expect to recoup my investment when I leave. Would not hesitate to buy another anywhere I go.
