Used 2001 Mazda MX-5 Miata Consumer Reviews
fun toy
I've had this car for 3 years since it was new and it is the best toy I ever owned. Close to worthless for long interstate drives since it's noisy and uncomfy for long sitting periods. However for pure fun on curvy mountain roads with the top down, it can make your day. No complaints whatsoever, but the car is not a BMW. I think of it as a go kart with a great sound system. I would not have this as my only car; can't even use it to go grocery shopping and forget out of town for 2 trips with the limited luggage space unless you pack lightly. But it is a great car for what it is.
Great fun with many aftermarket add-ons.
I have had this car for about ten months, and it has been a great investment. With the addition of roll bars, 17 inch wheels, supercharger, and all new audio, this car is amazing. It handles like a champ with a great amount of power. You cannot beat this vehicle in price versus quality and performane. I have yet to have any issues with reliablity. It has not yet seen the inside of the dealership. With many Miata clubs and many aftermarket components, this car has been great fun and entertainment. I would highly recommend over the MR2 and the S2000.

One of the best cars in the world
Looks, fun, luxary, quality and performance all in one. There is no better bang for your buck in the world. I got this car used, but it's like brand new. From the time you rest your rump on the leather seats, to the time you hear the solid thus of closing the door, and the ever so sweet pur of the stock high performance exhaust, you are taken by the fact that you only spent 15k on a car that looks and feels nicer then most BMW's.
most fun to drive
my first miata was a 1991, and drove it for 118,000 miles and sold 11 years later for $4500 so my new 2001 LS with all the power opstions, I may keep this one a bit longer.
This one's a keeper!
I owned a `92 Miata a couple years ago, sold that and couldn't take not having a Miata anymore. Bought a Crystal Blue 2001 LS with 6-spd, ABS, and Sport pkg. The refinement over the early cars and even the `99-`00 cars is amazing, very smooth, great craftsmanship (for a Japanese car of this price), for a 3-yr-old car, looks like I paid $30k+ for it. Very predictable, confident handling, outhandles cars twice its price, makes great sounds, easy to work on, the Miata community is a great one, very friendly and fun! Considered a BMW 3- series because it was more practical, inline-6 torque, German design and engineering, but repairs and maintenance are expensive. Don't regret my purchase at all!
