Its Just a Ford
Car was in great condition when it was bought but went down hill from there. One problem after another both with the engine (radiator, thermostat, alternator, oil links, transmission) and interior features (poor quality seats, dash, cargo nets, & cup holders). For a top of the line car, this ones the pits. Had to dump major $$ in repairs.
buyer-b-ware
I bought my millenia last year, with 117,000 miles for $7,000. Since then I have put on 13,000 miles. Reliability has been pretty good until now. I Just had it towed to the dealer the other day.....$1,100 to repair water pump, and timing belt not to include towing cost. other than that, I can't really complain.
Great car for the money!
Three months and 2,000 miles into ownership. Now at 74,000. Bought for $4200 from first owner; car is immaculate. $600 in tires; oil change to Mobil 1, Wix filters. Tremendous bang for the buck with supercharger, Bose system great, ergonomic controls, pearl white color, neighbors thought it was brand new! Transmission shifts authoritatively like German cars. Supple suspension for its size and class. Lacks some features of 2004 luxury cars, but we're talking under $5,000 here! I'm impressed with design, layout, and build quality. Averaging 19 to 21 mpg, most driving freeway at 80 mph. (Houston, TX)
nice looking but quality lacks a bit
I have had my Mazda for 9 years. I replaced the transmission at 100,000. I have had a number of other parts replaced. The engine has been pretty good. But the parts are very high and mostly have to be ordered. The resale value is is kinda low. The car really looks good but in terms of durability, it leaves a lot to be desired. Mazda really needs to step it up a bit.
Beware
I purchased used with 40,000 miles. At 52,000 miles the head gasket blew and cost $1300 to repair. Now at 112,000 the trans is out and it will cost $2500 to repair. Other than these big ticket items, I have also had to replace 2 CV joints. Many good aspects, but buyers beware
